Oh good, I wanted to play with a new interface for my system.

I'm told that if they have to hit just a single button, it is not against the rules. So I'm told...by a friend of a friend of a friend.

I believe it's more correct to say, if you have to manually initiate the wailing away at a specific target, it's not illegal to have triggers take over and finish it off. I don't think pushing a button to initiate a routine that walks you from room to room and hits incoming rats is legal though.

A lot of people label something as "auto" just because its easier and shorter than "semi-automatic initiated after each fish attempt by pressing F10". Before getting all bitchy try and think about things first.

easy there, I'm just clearifying...

Meh, well, I HAD a system and interface that I wanted to post. However, my hard drive developed a short and I lost everything. Go Dell!
Anyway, my system is now in the hands of a third party hard drive recovery technician... and I'm crossing my fingers....

One word... BACKUPS.
Multiple and often updated.
I hope you get it back somehow.

Yea, but we all have to learn some lessons the hard way. I did backup, but just in a different folder...
Unknown2005-08-03 02:34:11
Heh, yeah, I say that but I lost mine too in the past. Had backup but it was old so it was almost worse than not having anything as I didn't know what's there and what's not.
Terenas2005-08-03 02:39:02
I back my up on my hard drive, a floppy disk, and on my web page as well.

So I managed to get everything recovered, and I tweaked my GUI a bit. Here's the right side as I have it now...
Top part is self-explanitory: Remaining potions.
Next we have my Psi Channel balances. Red means their not open.
The 4 buttons underneath with nothing in them are my alert boxes. When I'm attacked, or something important happens to Vesar, info messages appear on the bottom button. Then, they just scroll up as new alerts happen. For example, I'll get "Attacked by Eiru!" then "Attacked by Alger" then "Staffcasted from the Northeast!" scrolling through those series of buttons. It's quite handy in large group battles.
Below that are my targeting outputs...
Then the last person to attack me, and the last person who died.
Then the obligatory man with DeepWound tracking.
And to the right is my demesne control. The drop down box label "Demesne Ctrl" lets me setup either individual demesne effects, or start my effect line up routine.
The large space underneath holds who is currently in my demesne, and if there is an enemy in it, a red light lights up next to the "In Demesne" button.
That's it for now. Still looking for suggestions for what to do with the left hand side...

Mine. Nowhere near finished but I sort of stopped working on it.
Wounds indicators are gauges and go red when below 50 (I think), demon is also a gauge on timer (synchronizes with demon attacks), this black panel at the bottom on the right has a list of invested powers... I guess that's all.

This is as far as I've gotten so far. I'm still working on healing scripts so most of that stuff doesn't have any visual element yet. I had the obligatory body outline but decided I didn't like the way that took up so much space to show so little information and I'm quite happy with my little buttons.

Psh, that's just a bunch of windows, we're talking art man! Art!
Amaru2005-08-23 21:08:03
Yah, all that crap would be worthless in a fight. You need SERENITY. You need BEAUTY.
Unknown2005-08-23 23:10:59
Fair enough... I just want to see some art and serenity with more useful stuff thrown in
And while mine is certainly not art (nor meant to be), it would _certainly_ be useful in a fight. No spam from channels in your main window, bright and apparent hp/mana bars (that take up less room as ascii than big ol' guages), and well... if it wasn't for the amazing zmud mapper, I probably wouldn't mud at all.

Well I have only really started mine, up to now I only ever had a speech window, which captures my guild/commune/clans/tells in different colours and obviously the map window on the side.
But as of tonight I have three gauges, and a new combat tab with code that works out the astrology spheres and effects just from a simple stargaze (no stargaze needed) so I had to show it off.
Now if only I could work out the charts based on just the date...
