Amaru, can you shrink the width of your signature? it makes the page go all funky.

What happened to signatures requiring the 140X60 size?

Heh, it doesn't take half my page... what the hell resolution are you using!? Will shrink it.
Daganev2005-02-14 23:43:45
its not the resolution, its the size of the browser. I don't like my browser windows taking up the full screen, it detracts from doing other stuff.

I just make my browser the width of the normal page.
Amaru2005-02-14 23:46:46
There... cut down the height but also the width. Is that satisfactory for your browsing pleasure, Mr Mod?
Shiri2005-02-15 00:04:59
The picture with the wolf and stuff was cool, but baaad on 800*600. happy.gif Righto with this new one.

It's freaky though. sleep.gif

Pah, me being a mod means nothing.

but i'm confused, I see you changed your Avatar but your sig is the same.

Make it Fain sized and I won't have to scroll to the side everytime you post tongue.gif

Personally, I don't particularly like that first zMUD interface, it just looks too spammy and messy. I like Amaru's, though; it's very neat and structured, and now has a cool silver/black theme.

I tried semi-emulating parts of Amaru's (old) interface -- the bit with all the inverted buttons on the larger button, but I put in too many, and it started to look messy and make zMUD actually slower (I do have 52kbps dial-up internet, 4MB graphics card, 600MHz memory, and live in a small, isolated country -- so it does make a difference, unfortunately).

Amaru, how the hell can you live with all those (13) icons by the clock. I get annoyed when I have 5.
Rodust2005-02-15 08:30:43
Heh. The worst is when the toolbar is on the side or the top of the screen.

Hey, it saves loads of room on my laptop that way!

With my two monitors at home, i have it on the bottom of one of the monitors.
Unknown2005-02-15 08:49:10
How exactly do computers display with two monitors?
Daganev2005-02-15 08:55:08
You have not joined the multi monitor revolution!?

There are a few ways. The easiest way is to buy a video card with dual monitor support. Otherwise all you need is a splicer and the correct drivers. Its essential for video editing and other graphical thingies.

I have heard rumors of a Flight Sim fan who set up 9 monitors around his chair so he only has to turn his head instead of switching views.
Unknown2005-02-15 09:00:46
But how does it work? What does it look like? What about the cursor?
Daganev2005-02-15 09:05:30
Oh...

Well thats more complicated. I have 4 modes I can choose from. Mirror, extended, clone and unified.

Extended is what I use. It recognizes the border between the monitors, so that a window is either in one or the other, but not both. Your mouse simply moves across from one monitor to the next.

Unified is the same except windows can bridge the monitors.

Clone is so that both monitors show the exact same thing. Best used for teaching classes and the like.

Mirror is a bit wierd and not sure why it exists, but Its the same thing as the original except you can change where part of the monitor is labledl "up" I guess thats for if you have a complex system and have a few monitors hanging around sideways or something.
Unknown2005-02-15 09:08:20
I don't get "Extended".
Rodust2005-02-15 09:21:17
Two monitors acting like one monitor. If you put the two monitors together and dragged the mouse across the screen, it would switch over onto the next monitor. Just makes for more room and lots of windows, just how Dag likes it.
Daganev2005-02-15 09:24:30
Ok I will describe what my set up looks like. You can change extended to have various set ups, so maybe an example will explain.

________`````__________
| | | |
| 1 | | 2 |
| 0 | | |
_________ ____M______

Imagine those are two monitors. Labeled 1 and 2

'0' is a window. M is the mouse cursor.

________`````__________
| | | |
| 1 | | 2 |
| {| |} |
_________ ____M______

This is what happens to the window in Unified mode.

________`````__________
| | | |
| 1 | | 2 |
| | | 0 |
_________ ____M______

This is what happens to the window in extended mode.

________`````__________
| | | |
| 1 | | 2 |
| 0 | | |
______M__ ___________

________`````__________
| | | |
| 1 | | 2 |
| | | 0 |

ARg that didn't work at all!!!!

Ok, someone else explain. I'm tired.
Dumihru2005-02-15 09:48:38
Since the graphics didn't work, we could try a food analogy -

Say you have 3 dishes - rice, quiche, and zmud. You want to figure out how to lay out the dishes so as to be palatable to the diner.

Option 1 - Unified layout
-----------------------------
You take two square plates and stick them together end to end. You can put rice on one plate, zmud on the other, and quiche in the middle, such that the quiche is half on one plate and half on the other. Sprinkle parsley all around.

If the diner gets bored with conversation, he can entertain himself by pushing the zmud from the right plate to the left and back. At any given time, it might be wholly one one plate, or partly one one and partly on the other.

Option 2 - Extended layout
-------------------------------
You decide that the unified layout is too messy. You don't want your quiche sitting half on one plate and half on the other because it might get mixed with the zmud during dining chaos, thus ruining the distinct spinach flavor.

Instead, you take 2 square bowls and stick them together side to side. You put the rice and the quiche in one bowl and the zmud in the other. Now the bored diner can shuffle his pile of rice from the left bowl to the right. But due to the nature of bowls, the rice can't sit half in one and half in the other (assuming a pile of rice is atomic).

.. or I could be tired and not have eaten dinner.

Edit: pretend your fork is a mouse.
Daganev2005-02-15 11:16:36
Hahah, thats perfect.
