I am currently trying to do the gnomes quest it, I think I have it figured out its trying to move my lazy faeling ass to do all that walking and portalling, the worst thing is is trying to get all the widgets/chains and get to the portal, I use to think there was a bug but you have to go straight to the portals not doing anything else, i.e selling corpses or anything like that. Anyway hopefully in a couple of Lusternia days I will be known as the saviour of the gnomes, hopefully. I'm sure I have it worked out. Now where did I leave that book....

It's not really a bug, it's just that the portals reset fast if someone doesn't pull the lever in time.

This may be a slight digression, but does anyone think it's odd that one can be the Hero/Savior of both sides? You'd think once you're known as a Hero of the Finks, the Gnomes might be a bit irked and refuse any help you try to give them. (I don't know, never did the quests, maybe they resolve this in an IC manner, or maybe it would just be too tough to code)

I always hate seeing opposing quests on peoples honours sad.gif

Like helping auntie maim raise her dead newphew, then promptly killing her for two honours lines in achaea. sad.gif

Yeah, but if your character is a bad mercenry type it makes sense.

BTW Hello all.

One of my Mag alts had a completely legit reason. First he helped the gnomes, and realized how well they seemed to pay for his services in their little war, but, seeing as how their catapult broke again, and his chance to make gold was hindered, he figured the finks would be eager to get their revenge, and hell, so long as he was willing to help, what would they care? they -are- finks after all.

Or, my other alt first helped the finks, somewhat unwittingly, and when he saw the devastation he immediately went to the gnomes and assisted them, only to realize they were just as blood thirsty and not as interested in mere salvation as he thought tongue.gif

Plus, you have to realize that these are NEWBIE quests, so, you can't expect them to be upheld to the strictess sense of RP.

Got near the end of the Fink quest, with one something that you need 5 somethings put in it. Got four of them, but the last one couldn't be found as the ones who held them were all dead. Then the holders repoped, killed them again, for nothing. Then my something decayed.... *cries*

I got to this point, then they wouldn't take my thing full of stuff! ...and then I turned level 21. Damnit!

Finished the fink quest. Easy, yet entertaining. The gnome quest frustrates me to no end because there's an early step with no apparent solution, meaning I'm probably missing something incredibly simple.

I wanted to do the quests. For some reason I can't find the top of the mountain where the gnomes are. I printed out the maps..but I guess I'm just slow.

I don't like that for some quests... but sometimes it makes sense. I intend to get both Gaudiguch and Hallifax lines because I believe that both cities need to be brought out of the rift together so I can help both. A quest like the Inner Sea Marilynth/Ladantine quest... yea... you can do both if you change sides. Doing Djarrakh or Gorgogs to get the lines seems less okay... if you change Celest to Mag (on a side note I would say and vice versa, but who would want to any more?) then you might want to change your morals slightly.

I think I know what bit you mean, but when you get that bit, it's far easier than the Fink quest. The Fink one is better though, imho. It helps to remember to look for hidden walls!
Unknown2005-07-03 19:08:24
Well you have to do some questy stuff.
Unknown2005-07-14 01:11:37
Yep. The Newton honours have been agitating me for hours on end. Every quest item, every mob just seems like a puzzle that's missing a piece...I've read this history of the gnomes thing several times, I've quested my arse off in Lolliprin/Smoke Mountain cave for a couple of good hours..but I haven't a clue what needs to be done to actually get the quest moving..
and it's not the only thing in Newton that makes my brain hurt. The jar of guck or whatever the hell, the rocks you throw into the lava pool...the supposedly useless rivets. ARGH. *dies*
Unknown2005-07-14 04:19:17
I've got both honors lines from newton on my Moondancer but he looked at it more as a challenge and a puzzle to work out. Plus Newton isn't completely IC anyway... I wouldn't dream of doing opposing honors quests for any other thing.

Edit: wow, this thread is 4 months old, now that i went back to look at the start of it, but ya just for reference it took me about a week to completely figure out how to do both honors quests. doh.gif course I was brand new to Lusternia, and still pretty new to Mud's in general. Starting my Moondancer I think I did the Gnome quest first and went from lvl 5-15 and then 15-18 on the Fink quest, so ya if you're not commited to doing the quests from the begining your not going to get them done before you Circle-out of Newton, but in no way are they impossible to do, heh the most annoying thing isn't figuring them out, it's running from person to person making sure the specific quest item you have at the time doesn't randomly decay fast...

One question: I have scoured the land and been unable to find a sling. Is it actually on the ground somewhere?
Vix2005-07-18 15:48:45
No, Finko tells you where to get it.
Unknown2005-07-18 16:31:29
Is this attained by greeting him or saying some specific? I'm having no luck.
Vix2005-07-18 16:35:00
You have to do something specific. He wants his catapult fixed so look around and see what you can do.
Unknown2005-07-19 02:08:28
I got the fink one with no trouble, but I can't even figure out where to begin the gnome quest *sigh* but that's alright, not like you die if you don't do both.. ninja.gif
