Here's something that happened to me today...
A taurian pilgrim says, "You know."
Alabaster Road. (road).
This location is flooded with shallow, crystal clear water. The bright sun
shines down, blanketing you with its life-giving warmth. Loose, white stone
pave the road, a carpet of glittering snowy rocks that stretches through hill,
forest and plain. While many of the white stones have been ground to a fine
powder by an age of heavy travel, most still retain their shape as small
pebbles, offering both traction and beauty. While vegetation doesn't seem to
encroach upon the road's surface, wildflowers crowd upon the side of the road,
offering a heady fragrance.
You see exits leading southeast and west.
You say, "Yes?"
A taurian pilgrim says, "What you said to me wasnt very nice."
Your mouth turns up as your face breaks into a smile.
You say, "This is true."
A taurian pilgrim says, "But Ill go with you anyway."
You say, "However, everyone seems to follow me anyhow."
You say, "I'll change my ways."
You bow respectfully to a taurian pilgrim.
A taurian pilgrim gives a pained sigh.
A taurian pilgrim says, "Yes, we pilgrims are rather mindless."
You say, "I realize it's disrespectful."
"Heh heh heh" you chuckle.
An aslaran pilgrim says, "Speak for yourself, bull boy."
Continuing the hunt for his dark mate, Father Sun presses forward in his
journey, lowering himself in the sky yet still casting even, full light upon
the land.
"Heh heh heh" you chuckle.
You say, "Get along, you're meant to be enlightened."
You thwap yourself on the head.
An aslaran pilgrim exclaims, "If we were already enlightened we wouldn't be on
a pilgrimage!"
A taurian pilgrim says, "That's true."
A taurian pilgrim says, "Aren't you supposed to be leading us to
enlightnement."
You say, "True, but you might as well try if you're going to join me on the way
up there, we're all on the path to enlightenment eh?"
You smile impishly and say, "Yea, I share your goal if not your methods."
You say, "I'm not convinced just how much you acheive by seeing Avechna, its
not so great after the first time."
An aslaran pilgrim says, "Aye, I am on a pilgrimage to the top of Avechna's
Peak. Do you know the way? Or could you lead me there if it isn't much
trouble?"
A mugwump pilgrim says, "I am following you, friend. Let us hasten up to
Avechna's Peak."
A loboshigaru pilgrim says, "Aye, I am on a pilgrimage to the top of Avechna's
Peak. Do you know the way? Or could you lead me there if it isn't much
trouble?"
A dwarven pilgrim says, "I am following you, friend. Let us hasten up to
Avechna's Peak."

You say, "Don't all pipe up at once, you're so excitable!"

This location is flooded with shallow, crystal clear water. A smattering of
clouds fills the sky, lacing it with spiderwebs of grey. Loose, white stone
pave the road, a carpet of glittering snowy rocks that stretches through hill,

powder by an age of heavy travel, most still retain their shape as small

the distance. Pausing to rest, a mugwump pilgrim looks off into the distance.
Pausing to rest, a loboshigaru pilgrim looks off into the distance. There are 2
dwarven pilgrims here. There are 2 taurian pilgrims here.
You see exits leading southeast and west.
A taurian pilgrim says, "Sorry."

Anyhow, it kind of went on from there. I really like this sort of thing, where a divine just posesses a denizen and has a little RP with someone, anyone, even a novice. Just these little things make Lusternia so much deeper and believable. People wouldn't think they matter but they do, they break that monotony everyone complains about. Heh, if I was a divine (hint) I would do this if I wasn't busy just because I think it's a good easy way to facilitate RP.
Events are great, as is large scale RP, but its little things like this that keep month to month life interesting for our characters.

(Is this in the wrong forum? I'll move it if so.)

Honestly, this is one of my favorite parts of IRE games. I love when Ardrak and I talk, and poke fun at him, and he talks about my dark past. Also brings back memories of Bowy and I on Aetolia, killing mobs in moghedu, and looking for a "sammich". The corpse of the cook threw a spoon at us, and five or so mobs were talking to us, before we killed them.

No. Now go away moderator boy. It's life in Lusternia. *eye*
Shiri2005-02-15 21:35:11
Yeees, but it doesn't look like an idea.

Is so an idea! I'm saying there should be more of this because it's awesome.
Shiri2005-02-15 21:40:21
Okay. I'll shut up then.
It is nice when that happens. Queen Maeve had a couple talks with me and Brylle (snapping at Brylle to shut up mainly, mind ) before unenemying me from Faethorn, that was pretty cool.

Oh my god I love this. Especially the part where the pilgrim apoligizes at the end. Priceless!!
And I agree, we definitely need more of this sort of RP

What did you say to the pilgrim that wasn't very nice?
Unknown2005-02-15 22:38:07
I've only run into a divine-possed mob once, but it was fun. He was part of a quest that I had no idea about and didn't realise until a few weeks later who I had been talking to.
I often greet denizens to see if they will respond in new ways though.

Now i'm going to pester Rowena until she speaks to me
Shamarah2005-02-15 23:11:02
A while ago I had an awesome conversation with Meleris about the Aquamancers, our powers, and our origins. Very fun.
Unknown2005-02-15 23:17:54
This is exactly how the whole bit with the adders started. Cronnacht was sitting in the Greenhouse shuffling about and being all weird with no one about to notice when Gwylifar arrived. We chatted for a minute when Gwylifar asked Abeytu about the adders. We were both kind of boggled when Abeytu spoke back. I should've got off my duff and been more involved in that whole shebang. You know you've found a good game when the Powers That Be will take time for stuff like that.
Unknown2005-02-15 23:33:29
Before Ellara got kicked out of Magnagora she had a conversation with Avarath. It was... rather crude and very amusing.
Laysus2005-02-15 23:47:15
Laysus got told to stop whining by Queen Maeve's consort once :/
Shiri2005-02-15 23:50:06
Yeah, so did Brylle.
Desdemona2005-02-15 23:56:03
This brings me memories... I remember how Maric (the Mhaldoran ratman) used to suddenly start talking. Mhaldor was awesome Oh, also once I started critizing Seasone for her business ways, and I got myself a reply... a counter to my argument
Small things like this are always great.

Sekreh2005-02-16 00:38:52
Oh, I was feeling witty so designed something rather offensive with the words "lead" and "peak" in it and aliased it to sp for pigrim usage. I never thought they would mind to be honest.

I think this was during closed, but...
(some random person attacks my pooka, I get 'im to stop)
You say to a pooka, "Are you okay, friend?"
A pooka nods his head.
You blink.
You say to a pooka, "Did you just nod?"
A pooka shakes his head.
You say to a pooka, "Weird, I coulda sworn you did, I'm not really used to a response."
