Some of the eastern and southern parts of America have some interesting accents, but the rest of us...well, our accent is to make a sound for every letter in the word, occasionally dropping a final percussive consonant if there isn't a leading vowel to blend it into. Much better than the intentionally contrived accent of the Brits.

See this is what I'm talking about, of COURSE they have accents, it's just THEIR accents so they can't hear it, and pretend it doesn't exist.

Heck, there was a guy and his girlfriend from Liverpool I knew, and the girl swore blind she had no accent (LIVERPOOL. YES, YOU HEARD ME.)

And yes, Summer, I have an accent. It's just a lot closer to normal (Queen's English ) than yours!

I always think of no accent to be words that sound like they're being sung. I mean, how often can you really tell if someone who is singing is american or english or whatever else? (Well, unless they speak a separate language altogether from English)

I usually can...and not just the Japanese-English difference too. (The r-l and v-bs are a good hint.)

I think i'd be to afraid to talk to anyone on the phone. In face to face conversations my voice is really easy to understand and (not my words) is easy on the ears.

On the phone? I sound like some thug, deep and gravelly. Always a constant source of ridicule for my friends.
