I start a new topic because I don't want this to be missed:

Please, if you edit someone's post, add a note to the post saying something like "Edit: removed name - we do not tolerate character bashing."

I think you're doing a good job but it can become confusing and annoying when bits and pieces are missing, and it is just considerate anyway.

Aye, i've noticed the Divine already do this. Just a little "EDIT: Removed some foul language. Watch your mouth. ~ Shiri" would be very nice.
Shiri2005-02-17 00:17:01
Will do, though I'm not sure where this came up. (I didn't do iiit. fear.gif)
Richter2005-02-17 00:18:20
Yes you did. You just removed all traces of it. happy.gif
Shiri2005-02-17 00:21:12
...sleep.gif Well, I...guess I can't disprove that. dry.gif You'll just have to take my word for it I suppose.
Daganev2005-02-17 00:22:42
Will do.
Wasn't sure what the proper etiquite was.
Daganev2005-02-17 00:57:26
how do you change the color of your text?

And is it possible to do it in fast reply?
Unknown2005-02-17 00:59:03
Yes, yes it is

The tags are (without the spacces) type stuff here
Daganev2005-02-17 01:02:09
Wheres the list?
Shiri2005-02-17 01:03:12
Purple red blue orange yellow grey green. Look in add reply, in the "COLOUR" box above the main text thing.
Daganev2005-02-17 01:05:58
add reply whats that? tongue.gif

Actually I tried to come up with a basic color that I would use and I thought wouldn't be on the list and couldn't. when I wrote that reply.
like silver and pink work.

Editing someone's post for them is very bad, very very bad. If the post is that out of line, it should be deleted. Just saying from experience, due the the sheer amount of complaints we got about it on the Imperian forums. I hate to sound like a know it all, because I am most surely not, but maybe giving you advance warnings of what the other player moderators went through will help you a bit.

I am used to seeing both things being done: moderators editing posts or deleting them. Normally deletion would be when the posts have been completely inflammatory nature. Whereas edits where simply to delete or "edit" certain improper words, or point out to the author something requesting them to edit their post.

why don't they set up a system on the forum that automatically replaces 'improper' words with other words. I've seen it on some forums, you end up with phrases like:
QUOTE
He is a total Greater Spotted Owl and speaks Pachyderm all the time! I wish the little Noble Seamstress could just muffins off. Fudgermaker.
Richter2005-02-18 16:30:02
I'm going to censor.gif words instead of change them, and I won't delete posts unless they -must- be deleted. We'll let you rant, just rant appropriately.

Moderators moderate, as in turn the volume down on certain posts. Nobody has a problem with somebody editing language. Or even removing inflammatory lines but I think its pretty important to note when this is done or you cross the line from being a moderator to being a censure.

Removing lines without notice of it having been done can radicaly change the context of a msg and make the author appear to be saying something they never intended or modify the underlining point of the msg.

Moderating good
Censure bad

Richter2005-02-18 21:38:36
Censoring of colorful language though?
