I still find it funny that people who use automated systems consider themselves "good fighters". But that's roleplaying for you.

Using automated systems completely fits in the IC combat environment of IRE games, basically you train your subconsciousness, mental and physical reflexes to be able to react swiftly and without thinking during a battle, focusing totally on offense.
Not having an automated system means IC'ly, you haven't got any experience in combat, leaving your untrained reflexes and accuracy far behind compared to the veterans.
Buying someone elses system OOC'ly, can easily be translated by undergoing hypnosis, where someone implants reflex accuracy and false experience into your body and mind, that way, you'll never be as effective as if you actually worked for it, but you'll still be able to fight, unlike when you don't want to bother training.
So in short, manual curers are greatly skilled OOC'ly, but in the roleplay environment, so IC'ly, they're unexperienced rookies, that never bothered training.
