QUOTE(Akraasiel @ Feb 17 2005, 02:06 PM)
Purified poisons would afflict every time, merely have a 100% base afflict chance, with trans resiliance, and snake totem, it would drop to about 65-70%. Dreadquenched weapons would have a base of 25%, with trans resiliance and snake, that drops to like, maybe 10% tops, probably less.

The odds of hitting 8 toxins with a haymaker would be insanely improbable. Even hitting with 3 poisons would be rare, four would be a miracle. It just makes it realistic to hit with two poisons with a normal doubleslash.

A 100% base afflict rate is too powerful when it gets right down to it. And technically, adding in dreadquenched weapons, that's a 125% base afflict rate on each sword. That is simply insane.
Asarnil2005-02-18 04:10:23
PLEASE add this in. I want two dreadquenched mantakaya rapiers with 240+ speed and 180+ to hit with 50 vials of purifyed charybdon please.
Unknown2005-02-18 04:16:32
Exactly, Asarnil just went and proved my point. Behold, the return of the all-encompassing speedknight.

Damnit, strength knights are meant to be the better ones in this realm for once.

Poisons will never get such an absolutely insane upgrade.

Perhaps if purify was made so that purifying a poison reduced it to 1 sip, and you could not put any more in, and it took a full vial to begin with.... that would work.
Akraasiel2005-02-18 04:19:03
ok, drop purification base % down to 80%
Change the base % for dreadquench to 15%
Akraasiel2005-02-18 04:20:45
Also change purify to take a full vial, and only leave 1/4 of what was in it before. 60 applications becomes 15 and so on.
Unknown2005-02-18 04:33:57
I'd say 1/6 or even 1/12 the applications as before. Purify would have to cost the equivalent of liquid gold to be balanced.

I'd say still yet, the percentages would have to drop down further, hell, I think warrior afflict rate is fine, especially with mantakaya and charybdon (spelling?) being extremely useful.
Akraasiel2005-02-18 05:10:42
Mantakaya is the only good poison, charybdon can be cured quickly by someone who knows what theyre doing.

Make Manta undreadquenchable, and unpurifiable, due to the instability of the poison.
Asarnil2005-02-18 05:18:18
True mantakaya is better, but thats why I want it dreadquenched tongue.gif but 2x charybdon absolutely decimates most people, and unless you are staggering your swings against a single opponent then mantakaya is nowhere near as devastating.
Akraasiel2005-02-18 05:26:16
I can cure double charyb almost instantly and now that Ethelon has released his system for free, I expect the overall combat prowess of the realm to rise dramatically.
Sylphas2005-02-18 07:11:37
Ethelon released his system? Really, or do you mean that trigger list on the combat boards? Because if you don't have a clue about how to build a system, straight triggers aren't going to help against anyone decent. -I- could get around them, and I'm far from a great fighter.

Poisons is a trade skill just like any other, it has a few basic skills in the start, products, then a "great" (notice the quotes) trans skill. It follows the same format as all the others. The problem with it is twofold. One, the market is very small (only knights and a few other of the more creative fighters) Note this issue only matters to poison users. Two, They're all borderline useless, even Mantakaya and Charybdon. Get some discipline to kill one, learn to read messages for the other. They are useless because strategy cannot be put into selecting them due to the fact that they have such a low chance of actually going through all things considered. Note this applies to all warriors.

Solution:
1. Use one of the many suggestions to allow more arhctypes to use poisons.
2. The only way to put strategy into poison selection is up the base chance to 100%, but since everyone on this forum would whine about that, only the poisons that have a good, instant or hidden effect will ever be used.

Though I will say this, all you people saying you can't make good money on poisons are wrong, considering there are essenitally one two or three of us, we can 1. Charge whatever the hell we want 2. Always be in shortage (of Mantakaya and Charybdon). Make a graph for that economists, it's a beautiful thing. But go ahead and keep bashing it, makes no one new take it up, and I'll continue laughing all the way to the bank.

I always thought it was an interesting thing how most people tend to try and make themselves seem as worse off as they can, it happens everywhere. People always say that they're so poor in real life, except for the truely poor people who never say they're poor and usually take offense too being called poor (of course the extremely wealthy are an exception too, usually). Human nature? or cultural phenomena?

Damn abnormal psyc class... I need to take a break...
