I'm fae-obsessed

Aside from being able to hover and losing the exp penalty, I was also thinking I would like to see Faelings get a vulnerability to cutting damage (I mean, a sword that an Igasho can wield is going to hurt us a -lot- if it hits).

To counter this, we should also be almost impossible to hit while in the air (ie, hovering). Maybe base our evasion on level, even. Currently, I would say most warriors can take us out in around three combos. That's fine, but if it takes up to ten swings of a wide net to catch a butterfly in other IRE games, why do razor thin swords cleave us about 80% of the time?

Edit: Also, Faelings do have their advantages in combat, I don't mean to imply we don't have anything. After Narsrim asked for a test, I discovered that we can tumble close to instantly. That has to be helpful... in escaping at least. biggrin.gif

As long as hovering weren't a perpetual activated ability. Instead, something like HOVER then you Hover for five minutes in a room, unable to do anything physical smile.gif Then, depending on your evasiveness, you could be more difficult to hit. Also, I agree that the XP disadvantage should be removed and replaced by level 1 weakness to both blunt and cutting.

Aye, it would be a stance, like kneeling or prone. And it would make you easier to summon, and prevent things like rooting that require you to be on the ground. Also, I believe it was suggested that being paralyzed or entangled would also make you prone if you were hovering.

It wouldn't make you unable to do anything. tongue.gif

Edit: And as far as a blunt weakness goes, while I can see it making sense, if it were implemented we'd darn better have a good improvement to our bashing to balance it. We're bad enough as it is.

Well, you could talk and things like that but things like slashing at someone should make you loose balanace and drop.

How about - Xp disadvantage, + level 1 weakness to blunt and level two to cutting, + gains faster xp level 1? ninja.gif

Nah, if you can do that while soaring high above out of earshot or normal eyesight, in gale-force winds, I think you can do that while hovering a few feet off the ground. wink.gif

If you are really intent on making Faelings suffer, I would still add the hover ability, then make us suffer a disadvantage when walking.

And I am against XP bonuses/penalties of all kinds. closedeyes.gif

How about Hover, and the skill FLUTTER WINGs, like someone was saying somewhere... something similar to transfix, requiring you to land and flutter the wings... The two abilities for level 2 weakness to blunt and level 1 weakness to cutting and the XP disadvantage removed. biggrin.gif
Elryn2005-02-21 06:45:35
I'm not an admin, so all these are just suggestions... you don't have to haggle with me. tongue.gif

Flutter wings... sure, I don't have any feelings either way.

Hover would be nice. Should ignore limb damage to legs, and act as a levitation/waterwalk thingy until you get into a situation where you can't sustain the hovering (i.e. web, paralysed) maybe have an endurance drain for it too?

A blunt and cutting disadvantage is kind of overdoing it. Dont forget faelings have the lowest constitution known to mankind. Although I would accept them so long as they upped the INT to 25

The only change I would like to faelings is that they have lvl 1 faster eq or something... that would rock. Possibly with a weakness to attacks that could shatter their wings... Like mage attacks that pelt them with rocks or whatever... Fluffy and balanced I think..
