Thanks... I'm pondering combos... so thats why I wanna know...

Pretty sure you meant Aslaran, not Raja.
Anyway, I've seen/heard of rapiers going to 270+ speed, and Aslaran with them could probably get in 2 swings at less than 1.5 seconds intervals. On the other hand, I've only heard of hammers going so far as around 220+ speed but not any better damage than rapiers. It's true though that BMs can get better speed, but without any decent afflictions, it's still pretty pathetic.
Shryke2005-03-07 23:09:51
hehe yah, can't quite get achaea out of me... The main reason I wanted to know was I was thinkin about tryin to make a aslaran blademaster using shieldstun and mantakaya rapier--- a.k.a. stun paralyze stun sever arteries etc... with 3 hits w/ rapiers during the stun time it should paralyze them, and then when they come out of stun they wont have time to do anything but cure paralysis... all the while they are bleeding to death... Viable tactic you think?
But also I think stun - knockdown - paralyze would still be better... BM's gotta be better at something huh!?

Viable until it gets downgraded.
What people need to have in their mind is that no tactic is suppose to possible that makes it impossible for your opponent to react to it. If such a tactic is possible, then said tactic is truly overpowered. I see too many people asking for abilities or wanting to come up with tactics that essentially are an I-Win Button.

Thats not what I want... But I can see how it would look that way... another question, does strength effect knockdowns? Hummm... Stunning is really powerful to say the least... But its sooo seksay...
Alger2005-03-08 06:41:32
I thought speed cap was carried over.
I always thought stunning doesnt stack.
And shield stun isnt on the level of sentinel axe throw where its only 1 command
maybe its viable if you can get aeon to stick as a serenguard then shield stun... or you could make life simple and go hartstone aslaran gyfu + bees + sap then shield stun away... cheeze.

Or just go hartstone aslaran then stun away.
Shryke2005-03-08 14:33:18
the idea was that I wouldn't be THAT cheasy, and try to go knight shieldstun which isn't thaaat bad...

No, Sierus apparently is able to break 1.5 second per swing with his 270 speed rapier in Aslaran form with Swiftstripes.
Shieldstun isn't as bad as Sentinel axethrow since Rajas are able to put up reflex to further improve their balance, but shieldstun is definitely getting up there, there are times when I could only get one single command in between consecutive shieldstuns.
Aeon is crap, it takes 5 seconds for me and that's with my level 1 eq bonus. It's probably closer to 6 for a normal race.

And work out something to do when they don't heal their leg and you start getting severtendon (eat marjoram;stand) and stop getting pinleg, which can actually do something if combined with rend.
67806
Maybe we should have the ability to apply healing to our enemies. Failing that, we could get a healer to come with us and heal them up to that narrow window between the seminerfed and entirely-nerfed crits.
(Has it come to this? I'm actually almost thinking about really doing that.)
Terenas2005-03-08 17:25:20
Actually, severtendon doesn't knock you down to the ground, just that if you were proned in the first place then you can't stand up. However, since BM have no methods of knocking an opponent to the ground, this is utterly useless, then again so are half of BM's afflictions.
Gwylifar2005-03-08 17:28:53
Technically, we do have one. Slice open their gut and hope they don't get around to curing it for a while. I'm sure that'll happen a lot.

Nothing instant like knockdown though. And it takes a really bad curer to not cure slice gut the first time he fell down. If he can't cure slice gut, I'm sure you can kill him with just swinging at random places anyway.
Gwylifar2005-03-08 20:44:24
Yeah, my sarcasm didn't come through too well. It's worse -- you need someone who can't cure a sliced gut long enough to fall in it and also can't cure his legs enough that you can slice his tendon. Just think how long it'd take to set all that up even if someone was standing there not curing at all. All that, to get them stuck on the ground, so you can.... well, keep hacking at them, since there's really nothing special you can do to them because they're on the ground.
Edit: Oh, you Stags can stomp on them then, right? Heh heh. You do that and I'll put the dark of the moon on them. That'll larn 'em!

No! Gwylifar, I'm sorry! Please don't!
Asarnil2005-03-08 21:19:14
Yeah I know its kinda off topic here - but one thing I would really love to see for Ur'Guard blademasters, or even blademasters in general is the ability to perform the blood eagle on your opponent. Something like pinning both their arms to the ground with two swords, unwielding those swords, grabbing another two and pinning their legs to the ground then pulling out a dagger or something and going to work. Yes I know its grisly and very probably unfeasable, but damn it would be so cool even if it was about as easy to pull off as rending someone with 2000 chervil, clotting tattoo and the clot skill to death.

Malicia tested that. Too bad it takes around 4 seconds to regain eq and uses 3 powers (in Stagform, 5 without). Such a feasible way to use up a third to half of your power, especially when your opponent can concentrate and stand up in less than 2 seconds. I love how horrible Blademasters are, especially the Serenguards.
Asarnil2005-03-08 22:13:34
Which is why we need to be able to blood eagle our opponents!
Alger2005-03-09 04:52:14
hmmmm as far as i know aslarans already hit 2 seconds with 240s... my guess speed stripes might be pushing beyond speed cap... dunno... get sierus to test. Hmmm tell him to try shield stun + swift stripes also...
I didnt say the aeon part was easy... but if you want a shield stun lock youd have to go for something like that...
and ceres read posts more... i did mention the hartstone part

To answer whether to go Bonecrusher or Blademaster-
That's with Icarus having 18 strength and war blessing and me with 108 blunt fullplate + drawdown and level 2 lightning weakness.
