Back to Common Grounds.

I do not believe the communes were diquited and disliking of the cities before the power experiments that went wrong. I.e Balach swamp and Operation Cosmic hope. They trusted the cities to take care of things in a respectable manner, and ALL the cities proved they were unable to do that.

Probable, but it isnt the taint that established their concerns as real. The release of the taint was a side effect that was not intended and betrayal is an action with a conscious intention. Also again, i would say is because they did previously.

The idea ignores the light's philosophies and dominance in the basin during the time though. The light -supposedly- stands for harmony, love etc etc. Now do you think the forest dwelers would have let the empire control the basin unopposed if they werent under the same assumptions? Which leads to where the deception is. The empire made themselves look like all holy people who rule with their teachings and blessings, when in truth no city can ever stand as being completely good. Celest was never the "good" city and no city will ever be the "good" city. Ladantine's powerhungry ways was the last draw and supposedly the forest will never be fooled again into believing such a thing existed.

So why does Serenwilde supposedly hate Celest? Because they are hypocrites who try hide their decietful ways under flowery teachings and they have been fooled once before.

well... makes sense to me. smile.gif

I have no argument with that, sounds fine to me.

That doesn't mean the release of the Taint can't be used as an example of such deceit. My character blames Celest for it still, which is irrational oocly, but it is something solid I can use.

QUOTE(The Histories)
The Communes first greeted the cleansing of the waters with joy, but then looked on with skepticism as the mages plundered further and deeper into other planes of existence, traveling through the ethereal plane and tapping into other planes of power.

...

The Communes watched the inevitable expansion with a growing misgiving, for the thirst for power seemed to outpace any pause for wisdom.

QUOTE(Guido Flagg @ Mar 15 2005, 12:54 AM)
I don't know how many people know this, but the original DoC's biggest project was not raising Crow, near the end at least, it was making Nikua look bad. All those news posts discussing his ill deeds, spreading doubt throughout the commune... muhah.

Oh, so Nikua was a member, then? wink.gif

In what way does the quote imply that he was?
Gwylifar2005-03-15 21:41:54
Ah, it was a bit slippery an insinuation.

During the time in question, Nikua did ten times as much as anyone else to discredit Nikua. Hence, the insinuation that Nikua was a member of the group bent on his own fall. Which could be a sly insult, or could be literal truth, and that's the glory of both Nikua (and Guido in some ways) and this insinuation, you can never tell if he knows he's digging his own grave or not, if he's doing it on purpose or not.

When you have to explain stuff like this, it takes the life out of it.
