Why is it a good idea? Any swords made this way will still be vastly inferior to weapons with the artifact runes attached to them. If you want special swords, submit the design to a cartel, get it made to the stats you want and fork out the money for a rune. Then they have the added bonus of not only having good stats and lasting generations, but they reset to your inventory if you lose them.
