I consider that my character is introverted/anti-social a recluse/hermit (not to say inactive ). But whatever the case may be, I really wouldn't make a big issue out of GT channel on, even for an introverted. Just learn to take close to no heed to your public channels, that is something I've been trying to do. Hence my limited interaction with others in the channels... and just about everyone in the commune.
Though, if you are more strict with your "intimacy" or whatever, and choose to have guild channel off, you should just be allowed to. Whenever there is something that you need to hear, I think some folks could simply just tell you to turn the channel on for a brief moment.
Just to expand a bit more... Even when you may consider requests of you having your GT channel on as probably a violation of your intimacy/privacy, by no reasons is it really a form of harassment. Even when you may be feeling "harassed".

If guildmembers are required to have GT on, then that channel should ONLY be for important announcements.
I find it incredibly aggravating when I'm trying to read a scroll or something, and two or three people on GT insist on tossing inane comments back and forth--especially if the comments have nothing to do with me, or most of the guild.
I agree wholeheartedly with Estarra's suggestion. There should be a difference between important announcements and plain chit-chat.

The argument here isn't that people should have gt on at all times, though. I don't think anyone can reasonably be expected to have it on constantly, however it becomes a problem when someone NEVER has it on, and never intends to. At that point there is really no point in them being in the guild, as they can still keep all their powers if they stay in the city while not being in the guild...

On Achaea they had GTS which could be heard for all those not on probation. Since an Achaea it was used rarely, if its still in the code set it to go to everyone that has GT off. What do you think of that?
Unless its now set to be guild rank specific...

GTS is set to a specific Guildrank in Lusternia.

Let the man be. I'm personally against all the Guild requirements they are spewing out already, and I sure would hate to have to listen to idiots all day. (lets face it, those who talk most of the time on Guild channels aren't speaking about Guild related matters). I especially dislike everyone saying he can't or shouldn't be able to play his character any way he wants so long as it isn't against the rules established by the administration.
