Sure, the mods may exagerate upon censoring certain words simply by the mere mentioning of such words. Which may be wrong. Still, you could think that many of us have the capacity to resort to any synonymous words as substitutes for those words we all know may be considered offensive (actually offensive words, used in an insultive context), so we do count with the capacity to moderate our own posts.

Maybe if anything, the moderators should bother to make public some forum "rules" to explain clearly what they consider to be bad language (being reasonable), helping us to try avoid resorting to them avoiding censorship by moderators.

The only problem I have with mods, is their excess tampering with some of your polls, which in any case couldn't really be taken seriously (What? Seven polls in the same night?).

Meh they are all doing a fairly decent job IMO, though I am getting a little sick of seeing the emoticon.
EDIT: I did make a choice, but I probably shouldn't have. Dag has been annoying me in a couple of threads that have nothing to do with his mod ability .

I can only assume that's where Elryn got his two votes from, people being immature and disliking him simply because he disagreed with them, rather than any remotely justifiable reasons i.e fiddling with polls too much/overcensorship. (Pretend that's a word.)

No, but if you are goign to censor a couple people, then censor everything that has been said like that before. That is where you are biased, you don't spread it out.

Get off Shiri's back. 'Crap' is a foul word in many places and he is doing what he is told to do, ie. remove fould words.

EDIT: And I would like to see one mod on a medium sized forum such as these -not- miss a few things. But, that's not possible if the mod wants a life outside of the unpayed unthankful task of moderating.

If Shiri is editting out crap, then he has to edit out every other bad/foul word, or considered bad/foul word to elementary standards.

That includes but is not limited to:
hell, bitch, ass, damn, piss, crap, etc.

Apart from one, those aren't considered swearing over here. (Apart from bitch, I guess...sort of.) So, I didn't edit them out. I'm highly surprised, to be honest, that anyone considers "damn" swearing. I suppose America's a lot more religious than Britain, mind. Anyway, I'm still waiting for a confirmation on what is/is not supposed to be bad language. Whatever.

All those above were swear words that were banned in grade school, but in middle school (6th through 8th grade), and highschool, they were allowed.

Weird. Oh well.

The best mods are ones you have to check the moderating team link to SEE they are a mod. You shouldn't notice they've become one, generally.

Fix things that need fixing - basically, things that are obscene, words or picture wise, block out pictures that are obnoxiously large, or, posts with nothing BUT swearing.

One little 'crap' or 'hell' isn't going to traumatize the world population. You KNOW that as mudders, we are already rather...different. Not bad, though.

Kudos to Richter and Elryn, I just found out yer spots. Shiri, just calm down a bit with the mod-job on minor things like 'crap' , and you'll do great.

I guess the mods (and especially Shiri) are getting a taste of how it feels like to be a god, with all the players whining and complaining over every single little change.

And a poll to see who is most unpopular when the answer is pretty much swayed by current circumstances? This stinks of a personal attack to anyone else?

I was one of those who voted "crap" as a swear word. And yes, I was brought up in a conservative family, I hardly ever use any, my family hardly uses any (except for my youngest brother who sounds rather like Silvanus), and my friends hardly use any around me either. But do I find it as offensive as a whole lot of other swear words? No. So sue me.

When we all play a game that allows for drinking, doing drugs and massive killings. Not to mention torture, baby killing , crucifying and so on, it just seems a little "Holier than thou" to censor the word "Crap." Actually it seems a bit weird to censor curse word, but hey that's the way it works. *Shrug*
