I was merely saying that you can't just say that an artist like Da Vinci is -only- respected because of his conceptual work. To do so would be to denigrate the technical brilliance that he also had. A great artist is made by a multitude of factors not just having a good idea or a biting cynicism. And yes, Kinkade is a despicable scourge and someone needs to break his fingers or something.
Daganev2005-03-03 21:36:15
If Davinci did not have his concepts his technical achievments would mean nothing. I have yet been introduced to a good painter during the renisance period who did not mock or degrade the church and government in some fashion.
I have recently learned by the whole Jhon Kerry campaign that the amount of people who were NOT against vietnam was much larger than I had been taught in school.
To me, this makes me highly skeptical that ALL good artists were anti-estabhlishment when I can see today that there are quite a few good artists who are pro-establishment. The artworld just hates them.
I may not agree with Kinkade, but I don't see how what he does is at all bad art.

Um.
So, sketches, implemented... yes...

Hang on, when I hear "Kinkade" I think "Spawn" for some reason, but I'm 99% sure that's Todd McFarlane. What am I thinking of? :/
Daganev2005-03-03 21:45:46
yes sketches are good... we got past that, its hard to keep saying the same thing over and over again.
perhaps kinkade is the sound the chains make when he jumps off of buildings? I have no idea.

Perhaps I should close the topic then, hmm?
Shiri2005-03-04 00:22:23
If you want the idea to get missed and sink to the bottom. Besides, there's no need to close a topic just because it's strayed from its original purpose. Anyway, the more we spam with other stuff, the more your topic gets advertisement.

PH34R!
We need sketches. Have 'em require a paper item and a drawing pencil (paper: 1 wood, papercraft skill; drawing pencil: 2 wood and a tinderbox (for making charcoal?), woodcraft skill) and then create a quick sketch. Decay time of about 40-50 months, can be duplicated using COPY (sketch), and framed and exhibited with EXHIBIT (sketch) (uses 2 wood to create the frame). Can't be enchanted, but hey, it's cheap.

What makes good art, in all it's forms(music, games, etc as they are all forms of art) is what feelings you get from it. Many people listen to music, in a language they don't understand, why? Because it generatates a feeling that they enjoy. In paintings/drawings that feeling genearly comes from symbolism, such as the example Daevos gave about piles of .
If Lusternia didn't generate a "feeling" when you played it, would you keep coming back? You may not even realize the feeling or idea's you get from art, but it is there and that's what makes it good.
Bad BUho, Bad... No naughty words from you, even if you do make a habbit of flinging it. -- Daganev

So... You like my idea?
Shiri2005-03-05 13:49:54
Hm. I always listened to music in Japanese because I could enjoy the voice without having to cringe at the appalling lyrics. (Yes, the lyrics were just as cheesy and corny and irritating as English music, but -I- don't know that while I'm listening to it. )

Don't learn Japanese. The lyrics tend to be worse than English lyrics.
And the Buho has taken notice of the topic! Will He Implement this idea in the form of a New Feature?
Shiri2005-03-05 17:30:57
Yeah, I know the lyrics are worse, I've seen some of them. But the point is that I don't know them -while I'm listening.-
Aether2005-03-10 10:46:38
So yes, its a fun little idea. Hee
celahir2005-03-10 13:07:28
If they added this idea I would become an artist on Lusternia.

As for the number of things you can remember, it would be amusing to have it based on your age. Lesser for younger, more for middle aged, and even more for the old and wise. Or, you could just make the ability crappy but funny, and have old people remember less.
64352
Or have old people only remember half of the person
Perhaps memory could be based on intelegence. An imperial merian would probably have better memory then an orclach and such.
--Edit--
Whoops, I should probably read to the end of a forum before posting, but the idea is still good
And elephants ARE smart.
