Divine Favours

Currently, I have a true favour and a true disfavour. However, I am still missing all of my trans skills. I was wondering why this is. Ideally, they should cancel each other out (at least to some degree). However, I always lose trans skills. Furthermore, the skillranks (which I do understand are a bit crazy) shows that I have trans in skills but I just don't have the skills. For example:

Common Skills Rank Pool

Combat Master Melee
Resilience Mythical Fitness
Discernment Virtuoso Intellect
Magic Inept Arcana
Planar Mythical Mysticism
Discipline Virtuoso Willpower
Environment Virtuoso Communion
Influence Inept Magnetism

Arts Adept Finearts
Lowmagic Mythical Arcana

Trade Skills Rank Pool

Alchemy Mythical Arcana

Guild Skills Rank Pool

Nature Transcendent Mysticism
Wicca
Healing Transcendent Willpower
Totems Transcendent Arcana
Moon

AB MOON:

You have gained the following abilities in Moon:
Coven Combine your magics with others.
Beam Travel along a beam of moonlight.
Light Bathe a room in light to regenerate ego of Moon and Stag.
Lash A dance to drain another's mana and heal yourself.
Aura The aura of the moon protects you.
Cone Raise a cone of power to channel energy to the Moonhart.
Waxing The waxing moon heals your wounds.
Shine Powerful ceremony to force coven enemies to fall in love.
Waning The waning moon slows your foes.
Harvest The harvest moon increases the coven's life harvest.
Full The full moon cures what ails you.
Resurgem Coven can resurrect fallen Moon or Stag followers.
Dark The dark moon curses your foes with insanity.
Conclave As coven leader, call a conclave of the coven.
Rage Use the coven to call down the wrath of the moon.

As you can see, it appears at a first glance that the true favour nullifies the true disfavour and I have trans Moon (which I normally do); however, I am missing drawdown.

Gods vary in strength I believe, and the more powerful a god is, the more powerful his/her favor is. If the TF that you got came from Terentia, it would make some sense Raezon's TDF wasn't completely negated since he has been around longer than she had.

Narsrim is affected by A Truefavour, and a Truedisfavour. The most powerful favours. The favours give all the bonuses, or losses, of all the lower ranked favours. So both favours are affecting Narsrim's skills

Damn you, Narsrim! Squish the words together like everyone else.

That's not exactly true. Each God is more influential in certain spheres than others. Thus, X-god may boost more to Y-skill that coincides with X-god. However, it doesn't matter. I've had 2 true favours and a true disfavour and I still lost -only- my trans skills. It seems that regardless of how favoured you are, it isn't possible to pass up the disfavour and reach trans skills... which I don't think is very balanced.

With a quick reference to Aetolia, during the MASSIVE Ashtan versus Bloodloch war, I once had favours from Niuri, Sylphe, Haern, and Arion. I had a disfavour from Severn... and even then, I still lost my trans skills. It seems to be something in the rapture code. I believe it was changed int Aetolia to where favours could "override" disfavours in two situations:

A. If X-god corresponds moreso with Y-skill than Z-God, X-gods favor can override Z-gods disfavour such that person-A can have trans Y-skill

B. If person-A has favours from multiple gods, it overrides a disfavour from any one god.

What did you get first? The favour or the disfavour? That might have an effect I think.
For example: Narsrim gets favoured by Terentia. Then, he gets disfavoured by Raezon. So, he loses his trans skills because the favour is coded this way that it should make you lose at least SOME skill levels - even when the favour is supposed to nullify it.

Yeah, so maybe unless I misunderstood what Roark said: it sees.

Trans 60,000. Basic.
+10,000. Truefavour.
=Max 60,000.
-10,000. Truedisfavour.
= 50,000.
Devris2005-03-02 22:22:36
I had the same thing happen in Achaea, and the admins there told me that it does vary by the God's strength. Also in some aspects you don't get certain punishments that are levied by a disfavour to be cancelled out by a favour as a disfavour is usually given as a punishment for something. I don't know if it is the same in this IRE realm, but I assume they are semi-clonish in some aspects.

Feel free to issue if you have questions on it, and they will probably explain it to you. That was the explanation I was given and told it is perfectly normal for two favours of the same type not to cancel out all the effects of the other one. I had a TF from Thoth and a TDF from Mithraea, and due to her essence or something being stronger...her favour peaked a bit above his.
Terentia2005-03-02 22:27:29
Technically my truefavour should entirely cancel out Raezon's truedisfavour as far as skill level goes.

I think there's a bug concerning being trans but not having trans level skills with truefavours.
Sudoxe2005-03-02 22:30:52
I had a similar problem on Aetolia at one point. Though I do not remember what type of favour/disfavour was involved, the favour should have negated the disfavour. The way we solved it was for the diety favouring me to nullify theirs, then refavour, which sorted out the problem.
Unknown2005-03-02 22:37:38
I wonder what did Narsrim get the favour for.
If my theory is right:
Raezon: Argh! Narsrim, you have a 3-month disfavour for: killing Brona at his own marriage.
Terentia: Good job! Narsrim, you have a 3-month favour for: killing Brona at his own marriage.
Sudoxe2005-03-02 22:51:36
There's already another topic covering a lot of that information.
Erion2005-03-02 22:54:17
Yea, which is stupid. so Fain should say, "Stupid meddling Terentia. Divine true disfavour for: 50 days."

It is, but I didn't had the mental strength to browse through 5 pages of an argument where both sides are right. People really shouldn't post when I'm asleep.

Actually your lesson points can exceed the max, since if you get truefavored and you are already transcendent wicca for example, your nature curse will do more damage then normal, since you will exceed the transcendent ranking, and its damage is based on skill level.
Shiri2005-03-02 23:42:45
Oh, d'oh, that's right. Nevermind me.

Also, in Achaea, the ability to detect traps required the detector to have equal or greater pranks than the trapsetter had woodlore. A trans trapsetter with a TF had traps that were undetectable by those of us with trans pranks and no TF.
