Roark said Favours are Skillpoint Modifiers not additional Skillpoints.
So its more like
60000 points * 1.5 Favor = 90000
60000 points / 1.5 disfavour = 40000
Which equals 50,000
So its more like
60000 points * 1.5 Favor = 90000
60000 points / 1.5 disfavour = 40000
Which equals 50,000

I don't understand your math. 60,000 * 1.5 = 90,000/1.5 = 60,000. What's more likely is 60,000*1.5 = 90,000*.5 =45,000 (The favor gives 150% and the disfavor gives 50%, the actual numbers are certainly closer to 100% than this).

Because I doubt the modifiers are added to eachother, rather they would be added to the skillpoints avaiable, since those points never change.
So its (60K *1.5)+(60K / 1.5)
But either way you do the math, it comes out to less than 60000 and thus no trans skills.
So its (60K *1.5)+(60K / 1.5)
But either way you do the math, it comes out to less than 60000 and thus no trans skills.

I still don't understand your math, are you saying that two favors would give you 180,000? (60k*1.5) + (60k*1.5)?
Also (60K *1.5)+(60K / 1.5) = 130k. I assume you meant (60K *1.5)-(60K / 1.5).
Daganev2005-03-03 04:25:43
good point, my math is bad.
180K wouldn't make sense.
180K wouldn't make sense.

Head hurting.. Just say "Because" and be done with it...
Roark2005-03-03 22:58:02
Without looking at the code, I can guess the reason. Since each skill rank requires progressively more skill points, a flat bonus of X points would be imbalanced. At low ranks, it might get you 10 new skills. At high ranks, maybe 1 or 2. So it goes on percentage of your skill points. Suppose it's a 20% modifier and you have X skill points. X * 1.2 * .8 = X * 0.96, which means you come out slightly behind when there is both a TF and TDF. This leads to interesting ramifications of having only multiple TFs or only multiple TDFs.

So change it so a disfavor is /1.2 (that is, *0.83333) instead of *0.8, and the problem vanishes in a puff of mathematics.

I don't think its right for a player to go "nyah nyah more gods like me than you dislike me, your disfavour means nothing!"
And I can think of atleast 3 magnagorans who I just KNOW would do that if Isune disfavoured them and Fain and Raezon favoured them.

Unless favors are being given out trivially, which I doubt, I don't see why someone who has earned two favors shouldn't come out ahead of earning one disfavor.
Raezon2005-03-04 18:51:59
Generally favors are given out quite often... hey you offered quite a bit, you followed up on your decision to destroy that bluebird, congratulations, you're a good guy and follow your role well.
Whereas a disfavor is generally not given out on a regular basis and really requires you to do something completely out there to receive one. Thus, the fact that you can't negate a truedisfavor totally makes perfect sense in that regard.

Since I'm wearing a highfavor right now I probably shouldn't say "I didn't think favors happened that often", should I?

Well then at the very least, a true favor should trump a high disfavour, etc.
