When you convert dark/light essence to silver/light/dark essence, have it give 15 power instead of 5 power. It'd give a better reason to go into the elemental planes.
Shiri2005-03-03 23:14:28
5 power is already quite a lot, when you kill in multiples. One trip to the Water plane, starsuckers alone, gives 80 power right off the bat. No need. A different incentive would be good, but it wouldn't make it any more of just a bashing ground, and is highly unlikely to draw PK there.

If you can -find- any starsuckers. Seriously, those things must have been napping when I was there last.
Eldanien2005-03-03 23:30:39
100 power for a load of starsuckers, actually. There's 20 of them. Clear out Water, and you've netted 180 power. 360 or better if you milk the corpses of essence.
I do that about once or twice a RL day, or every other.
This also ignores or dis-involves the Seren, though, who convert all essence anyhow.
Maybe if we made power rare again? Not only will there be more conflict, but people will be trying their best to manage without using power. Feats become fantastic and 'wow' again...
Nah.

power is fine as it is though i would like to see more planar fighting, there should be something, a big quest maybe that we need to fight on other planes about
celahir2005-03-08 13:11:59
I like I like I like..this would ecourage more conflict off planes which would stop this basin fighting everyone complains about. Also means to keep up security people would have to meld gates to protect their essence alot more.
Manjanaia2005-03-08 17:24:28
I think there should be more point to the elemental planes. The Water plane seems kinda pointless. All there is is starsuckers and leeches.
Faethan2005-03-08 17:46:35
Add a bashable critter to faethorn that drops moonhart essence, make it so that essence deposited into the wrong nexus (the one it doesn't originally go to) give 15 to the depositor and take 5 from the nexus it originally went to. So if I go kill four starsuckers, and put the essence in the moonhart, its +60 for Seren and -20 for Celest. That way people have incentive to defend these planes.

If an essence has been converted say from dark to silver and put in the tree, how are you supposed to tell if that was actually a dark one to start out with? There are already enough quests out there to lower the power reserve of nexuses, if you do this it will only make each the cities and SW piss off enough that they will just distort their gates and destroy all rifts. This would greatly hinder SW and Knights that cannot get to Astral unless they possess Nexus. Bad idea.
Sylphas2005-03-08 19:00:19
But there needs to be something there to defend, or you'll never draw pk off of prime. If you give the extra power for converting, Mag will bash Water, Celest will bash Earth, and conflict won't really increase much. If it takes away a bit of power, even just one per essence, it gives incentive to keep them off of your plane.

In the depths of the lake of dreams, deep within the caves of the mountains of madness, in the eaves of the forest of glass west of faethorn reside villages/temples. A relic exists for the four elemental planes as well as one for the ethereal plane. Each one is housed on its respective plane. Each relic can be stolen from the other planes, and for each relic that resides on the plane not of that plane the amount off essence produced by the creatures on it doubles. Likewise if the relic of your plane is no longer there no essence is produced from the creatures. If by a certain date a particular plane houses all five relics all creatures on the other planes will be wiped out and each nexus will suffer a drain in power for a certain length of time. Also at this time a blessing can be unleashed by the owner of the five relics. For example, if the ethereal plane owned all five an eclipse would occur blocking out the sun and bathing the basin in perputal night and something else that has to do with lakes. If this were to happen night, lake, and moon covens would be allowed to rage or their equivelent for a period of three months. Also all followers of stag, crow, and bear would have the ability to take each form and use the skills with no cost of power.

I'm not really sure what, but we do need to give the elemental planes a purpose. The Aquamancers are supposed to defend the water plane but there is nothing there but water. (and parasites which we kill). From an IC perspective I'm happy to protect it, but OOC it seems kinda thin. Perhaps if there was some sort of elemental goddess on each plane or something. But of course the problem with that is it wouldn't fit in with history.
