Great, the world's going to end...

Yes, I believe there is something that could nullify the possibility of that occurance being true. There are many animals out there who have adopted animals from other species as pets/children, and tales of even animals fostering human children.

So, Daganev, I believe that what you saw is true... Who may know the reason, though? Maybe she is waiting to fat him, and you know...

Edit: Chances of things like this happening may increase with animals that were breeded in reserves, or animals in captivity. Is she a -completely- wild one?
Daganev2005-03-04 22:57:26
yes, its completely wild, the story behind her is crazy.

She Kidnapped the oryx. Right from infront of the mother, and the mother followed them for a while "shocked that she wasn't being hurt" and the oryx occasionally goes to other herds to get fed.

I heard about this on the radio because the person was being interviewed. She said they followed the lion and oryx for weeks expecting her to eat the oryx, but it never happened. People all over Kenya drive in the hundreds to watch them or something like that. Thats what made me doubt the story, when she said that people drive out there to see them.

And apparently the Leader of Kenya said "If eternal enemies like the Lion and Oryx can get along, perhaps we can work out our differences as well." (they are recentely a multi-party democracy according to the lady who did this show.

The lions pride is unkown, and is assumed that they all died of posion or something. I havn't read the full story, only heard the interview on the radio. NPR to be exact.

Thats why I was looking for some confimation.

Turns out the story isn't just true, its 3 years old and the lion adopted 6 cubs.

I've seen a lot of stories like this lately - the Hippo and the Tortoise, a snake, bird, and mouse (really).

And the lamb shall lay down with the lion....

unfortuneatly there is another bible quote.

6:11 The world was corrupt before God, and the land was filled with crime.
6:12 God saw the world, and it was corrupted. All flesh had perverted its way on the earth.

The hebrew words for corrupt and crime to quote are as follows....
corrupt
From the Hebrew root shachath. The word has the connotation of decadence, perversion, destruction, and damage. It is especially used to denote sexual immorality and idolatry (Rashi).

crime
(Rashi). Chamath in Hebrew. The word also denotes immorality, violence, oppression, cruelty, and outrage.

I have always wondered, how, if animals don't have free will could they also become corrupted, and why did that make the world deserving of a flood and not just the destruction of people. i.e. what did the animals do?

The more I hear these stories, the more I wonder how independant animal behavior truly is from human behavior. I don't see this as a sign as much as a verification of the past. ESPECIALLY since this impacted the behavior of the people of Kenya to such a large degree (according to ALL the websites) If the people of Kenya were not affected, I probabbly would not find this as interesting.
