Haha! Tumble is the only solution to your soulless combos. Yes, I can easily see why you hate tumble.

Silvanus:

Currents can be a problem, but there are easy solutions to dealing with demesnes even if temporary. The solution I am thinking about will give you enough time to get away. I will not tell you the solution, because it can be used against all demesne users.

I just want to point out something about Geomancer Demesnes... we always had the poison gas, we just didn't use it because it killed everyone in our demesne, however without the declare changes I'm sure we would've changed the ability to instead spray poison gas out of a geyser at someone and not make a cloud. Also, Stonerain always caused rubble but it only worked when people were flying. The stun is a bit much, I like the idea of it pulling someone to the ground but to tell the truth, I hate stun abilities in all forms.

The only thing I don't like now is that Stonewalls are as much trouble for us as they are for our enemies and that Duststorm is still useless for the most part. It does seem a it of a double standard that pollen and spores are stopped by a shield, but oh well.

EDIT: I forgot about my main complaint doh.gif . Tremors is really really spammy because it constantly shows up when enemies aren't even in the room mad.gif

Fly / burrow?
Silvanus2005-03-05 17:36:49
If you fly, it'll knock you down again. You can burrow, but you can't burow in a river location.

First, constitution used to filter out poison gas 100% (like it did in all IRE games) because gas is -very- powerful (even with constitution now, I go from utterly satiated to starving to death in ~25 seconds). That was changed thus making poison gas an extremely easy and cheap way to take out almost anyone (bearing in mind lowmagic users can temporarily circumvent this with Orange but it costs 3p and doesn't last too long).

Stone Rain didn't create rubble in the past. It knocked flyers out of the air and gave them a concussion. It still does this. However as an added bonus, it creates rubble everywhere. This makes it veru difficult (more so with the stun and bordering on impossible with gyfu infused) to walk through a geomancer demesne (unless you leap/tumble). If you begin to hike over tumble and get hit with stun, you stop moving and have to start again... very annoying.

Furthermore, Geomancers used to have a relatively easy-to-navigate demesne because of chasm. At it stands, anyone without tumble is out right screwed because rubble + infused gyfu + stun + chasm... is nasty nasty (and costs a huge 3p). Furthermore, stone walls are not so much a problem if you invest your skills wisely. Get a mount and you can leap over them. Given that you aren't being hit with the demesne effects, you should have no trouble. Furthermore, you could also fly in your own demesne and that magic stone rain wouldn't hit you but knock the crap out of anyone who dared to follow you into the skies

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyhoo, I just don't see how a non-airtight shield (as Buho pointed out) stops pollen, spores, swarms of insects, etc. but not stop jellyfish, poison gas, etc.

Wrong, in the past it DID create rubble when it knocked people out of the skies. It didn't started out creating rubble but after a while (through the envoy reports I'd bet) I noticed it creates rubble when I tested it with Torak. I wanted to know how it worked and when it knocked him down rubble WAS created. Also, the rubble is only created if you're in the room when the timer on the stonerain goes off, as in. You can about 8 seconds before it will drop it in the room you are in. Granted with stun and gyfu this becomes a lot harder, which I why I don't think the stun is needed. Considering Chasm is the scariest instakill I've ever seen, and I try not to use it because I think it's pretty cheap kill.

I do think the poison gas is extremely powerful, but it sounds like constitution needs a bit of an upgrade. Granted, a Viscanti can make the gas too especially considering the gas the Viscanti make has a bug along with it. I won't post it so it won't be abused, but I hope it gets fixed soon.

Alright fine. I meant that it didn't create rubble passively. It actually had to hit someone prior to piling it up.

Just because you have been slain by novice Hartstone (probably without a demesne) doesn't mean they are overpowered.
66034

Well, I haven't fought in a hartstone demesne since they were told to stop stacking effects, of course. But back then a demesne could take me out single-handedly. =\\ Not even Patchou could do that. tongue.gif

...I could at least run from the cat.
Shiri2005-03-05 19:53:59
Yeah, that was great.

Erion has been slain by whatshisface Nementh.

...

(Serenwilde): Nementh says, "Wtf? How did I kill Erion? Oh wait...demesne. Hm, forgot to turn demesne watch on." tongue.gif
Erion2005-03-05 22:13:43
Yea. And like, paralyze/impatience/thrown into the trees/boofooed by a dropbear.

Not fun.
Shiri2005-03-05 22:28:33
What the heck is this Australian dropbear thing anyway? My Tassie friend keeps going on about them.
Silvanus2005-03-05 22:30:09
Shiri, quit hijacking.

And yes, all demesnes were not created equal. Hartstoners have Moondancers as backup, Aquamancers have.. uh.. I'm not sure, but Hartstoners have Moondancers to back them up with will-o-wisp.
Erion2005-03-05 22:32:20
They're like, demon koala wannabes that drop out of the trees, grab you behind the ears, latch on, and elope with your face.

Stop hijacking this thread.

Just another question.

Does monolith sigil stop demesne summon?
Shiri2005-03-05 22:37:52
No, it does not, Silvanus. And I can hijack if necessary, psh.
