Since this thread has been a little bland, I'll spice it up a little bit. I think it is unfair that Hartstone get jacked on the natural terrain melding. For example, Aquamancers can meld to river/ocean/lake/etc. Geomancers can meld to wasteland/tainted /etc. Hartstone can -just- do forests... they should be able to naturally meld gardens, trees, etc. I mean seriously, why do you have to forest a garden to grow mushrooms, vines, etc.
Sylphas2005-03-05 17:34:20
Compare the amount of terrain, not amount of types.
Shiri2005-03-05 17:44:17
I actually think the Aquamancers got messed up on that one, since they have to water to defend their home and their Cosm.

Tainted:
Angkrag, Nil, Magnagora, Glomdoring, Sea of Despair, Spectre Isle, Blasted lands, Earth Plane
Forests (non-tainted):
Serenwilde, Faethorn
Water:
Estengare River, Toronada River, Moon River, Shallach River, Gloriana River, the Inner Sea, Water Plane
Sylphas2005-03-05 17:58:32
I suppose it just seems like more because I live in it, and I had forgotten you had to forest to meld Glom.
Unknown2005-03-05 18:02:24
You forgot sea of despair.
Genos2005-03-05 18:04:15
I found it a bit ridiculous on my Hartstone when I couldn't meld the trees or garden, and the fact that Aquamancers had to Flood Celest and Celestia just to protect them. It really needs to be equal on all levels, when Aquamancers can't even protect their city without using power and Druids can only get part of the Forest, which is a big disadvantage with all the entrances and the hill, mountain, river, urban, and lake terrains that make up a lot of their Territory.

YES THANK YOU NARSRIM!....its just dumb that trees and gardens cannot be melded naturally just like how totems cannot be put up in the commune proper...I mean you are in a giant tree...how much more foresty can you get? (--From a forest location, you can flow through the green to anyone who stands in a forest location.--) I can flow to people in Glomdoring but I cannot meld it without putting up an Ethereal forest? Why?
Also I think the arts skill is biased, many of the abilities are only useful to the cities. Statues …yes I know we have totems but I would be happier if those could be put up in all the rooms in Serenwilde…(Commune Proper, Centaur Hills, Marshes, etc.) …paintings is also stinky. Magnagora and Celest can hang up paintings in their shops or whatever and let them have easy transport to wherever they please. Can we exhibit paintings in our shops? Nope.
okay thats enough ranting for me
Erion2005-03-05 19:42:13
Well, I think you shouldn't be able to flow to the glom, either.
Shiri2005-03-05 19:46:57
Pfff, you would. Narsrim still has wisp though, Erion.
Erion2005-03-05 21:31:24
I can carry a mono for that.
Erion2005-03-05 21:32:02
Although, to clarify, I think flow should be forest only. Meaning can't flow from seren to glom. They'll either need to make that change, or else we'll be seeing some crazy flowing action going on when Glom comes in.

They'd also better find a way to break up the Ethereal plane as well in that case.
Shamarah2005-03-06 01:17:10
About what Narsrim listed about meldable places by Aquamancers: why would we actually meld the rivers? The only one we'd ever really have much of a reason to want to meld is the Estengare because it goes by Delport and some Delport denizens are there. Also, Geos can meld Nil, where Aquas can't meld Celestia. So... the only place we'd really want to meld is the Inner Sea or the Estengare (and only maybe on that second). There's no real reason to meld the Water Plane because it's incredibly rare to see a city enemy there in the first place.
And Shiro, the Sea of Despair counts as tainted and is meldable by Geos, not Aquas.

It's different forests. They should. Three forests seperated by the Faethorn village. And for the reasoning behind the cross-shape, I imagine it might have to do with Auseklis' symbol being the four-pointed star.
Elryn2005-03-06 03:14:01
Imagine having Nil and Celestia on the same continent, with a small stretch of 'neutral' tainted land filled with demons in between.
How fun would that be for the two cities?

Silvanus2005-03-06 06:09:45
I actually had the idea that, to introduce more planar conflict, have a neutral area between Earth-Water-Fire-Air, which the land has properties of all the elemental planes, and is connected to all 4 of the elemental planes (of course, fire and air don't exist for now).
Shiri2005-03-06 11:06:45
That's sort of like...the Ethereal. It's right, though, Earth-and Water-and Celestia-and-Nil are continents, divided (if you don't believe me, go check it out with tells, and planarsight but not cosmicsense. And teleport rather than tesseract w/planarsight, for that matter.), but there's no...well, sea inbetween said continents. One can only assume that it's the Ethereal as acts as said division.
Erion2005-03-06 19:38:16
Or the aetherwaves. I thought it was assumed that Nil/Celestia/Vortex/Continuum were all on the same plane? That's why, you know, they're COSMIC. They're all on the cosmic plane. So there's just aetherspace between them.

The case being made was not that you would do it. It was that you could do it if you chose.
Hartstone cannot, they are limited to Serenwilde and Ethereal Serenwilde/Faethorn, period. The only way they can meld more is to forceforest as they go.
