I liked DQ 3. Other than that... meh.

I never got to play OBT. I've cried myself to sleep many nights because of that. Well, not really. But it does sound interesting.

As for FF7, I find that it didn't really add anything to the series. It was 3d. It used FMV for dramatic moments in the plot. Wow. The materia system was little more than a variant of the esper system from FF6. The ATB system was nothing new, as it had been introduced in FF4. In true Final Fantasy form, there was no real role-playing at all. That's to be expected though. Final Fantasy games had always been large, so it's not like the size of the game was anything to get excited about.

The main difference between FF7 and it's predecessors was the graphics. It's popularity can be explained by the huge advertising campaign from Sony. Sure, I'd credit it with making RPGs more mainstream (whether that's a good thing or not is another debate entirely...), but in terms of actual gameplay, it offered little that was actually different from what was already available.

I'd make a reply, but I'm in Discrete Math (I'm lazy.) and someone just made "Pi-Borg"... a piece of paper cut into the Pi symbol and with some cyber-looking lines. woo.

I never played chrono trigger, or atleast all of it. Was that the one with the frog?

And FF6 was just a remake of 3, with new items and maybe monsters. My main beef with it is that all you need is the item to double cast, then cast I think it was ultima..instant death.

But regardless of any system, the best RPG ever made is Bauldars gate 2:Shadows of Amn, and Throne of Bhaal
