How are people finding the new change in commodities where commodity quests give immediate results? Because I didn't change how commodities from commodity quests are distributed to cities and communes, basically the quests are producing twice as many commodities as before so there should be an increase in commodity supplies.

Things are looking good on this front. I've had a dramatic drop in the number of people saying they've had trouble finding the comms they need to make a living with their tradeskill.

I'll give it a run over the next few days and see how it works out. Thanks!

I think it's great. It means people who are -really- looking for the comms, can do the comm quest themselves.
P.S. Reduce the number of spices found with herbal pickings. Make them as rare as mercury and sugar.

Heh, maybe. Mercury and sugar don't seem all that rare to me. Or remove the "rare". Rare spices? What rare spices? I got more of them than any other herb.

And yet I sold 1000 of them for 5-10 credits ... muahahaha
Summer2005-03-07 10:30:24
Really? I usually gave away that much for free or a nominal fee (100 gold) when I was harvesting actively.
Daganev2005-03-07 11:04:44
yes, but sometimes new players with too many credits don't know these things.

EXCELLENT change!
Despite the fact that I haven't been around for month/s, I'm just coming back, and given that was one of the things that annoyed me - ie, wanting to use tradeskills, but having nothing to do but wait for more comms to appear - it's great!
Makes a big difference to be able to make a direct and immediate impact.

I'm liking it a lot. I've always done quite a few comm quests, and it is rather nice to see tangible results. I've done the comm quests a few times when I've been searching for key comms, and it helps out quite a bit.
Athana2005-03-07 15:36:39
this is great!
maybe now with more comms available store keepers can better stock their shops! yay!

The change will increase the number of commodities that the villages produce. Before, people weren't likely to do, for example, the sheep quest, and MAYBE get some cloth NEXT MONTH. But now, they know that as soon as they bring the sheep to the shearer, they can run to the commodity shop and get some relatively cheap cloth. So, they are much more willing to do that, they will make it more and the village will produce more commodities, donating more to the cities.
Overall, both the players and cities get more comms.

Yes, it would be nice to see traders to manufacture more thanks to the increased availability of goods... and prices drop, if possible. What I'd hate to see is people purchasing BULK comms, just to sell them on stores or um... selling to other folks while depleting the comm store's supplies.
Typhus2005-03-07 18:27:44
Which happens in every Iron Realms game...
Ialie2005-03-07 18:31:58
Booooo everyone shouldn't have the benefit of getting more comms! Comm quests are over powered and need to be nerfed! *hiss**hiss*
I was hanging in a comm shop one day and I was admiring all the zeros and then suddenly this noob comes up and sells some gems and all the sudden there were gems in the comm shop! I yelled "What the NIL!! You screwed up my zeros!" So you know I had to kill him, and suddenly I find myself cursed! WTF is up with that!
NERF COMMS!

Err.. You were vulturing the comm shop? They need to make a system for setting limits on comms purchasable by each person in city shops... It gets crazy when a newbie walks in and buys over 200 gems at about 150 gold each right in front of me.. And there were about 7 left.
Ialie2005-03-07 18:35:56
Er.. I was joking. I love the change.

Funny.
Yep, change good. People that abuse the change... BAD!

I think giving players control over comm shops, so that they sell or price selectively, would fix a lot of issues. At this point, I know the Magnagoran comm shop is way overstocked on a lot of things I would love to get cheaply, but if we lower the prices, other hording players from other cities/communes will just buy them. Why are the shopkeeps of our comm shops so stupid?? Please let us control them!

Should do what was done before. Get a city shop, and sell bundles of comms there at a discounted rate to Magnagorans.
Or do what I did when I was in Celest, sell comms pretty cheap, but only to citizens.
