Sigh. Miss ya, Ralshan. If only Achaea didn't have those damn Vertani, it's almost as depressing there, except there, I get bombarded with glomps and hugs whenever I log on.
Shamarah2005-03-06 22:14:43
Eh, stick around, it'll probably get changed. The Divine seriously do listen here, even if karma was quite stupid.
Rhysus2005-03-06 22:17:42
Woe! >.< Just get rid of Karma and be done with it! It was a nice experiment, like Achaea's first stab at the war system, but can we just agree that it failed and try -not- driving the highest paying customers from the game?
Silvanus2005-03-06 22:20:50
Agreed!
Unknown2005-03-06 22:26:21
Just use primebond, I say. First and the best idea so far.

Agreeing with Silvanus...just for a change.

I hate karma.
Now I hate Lusternia.
I was cursed, by some guy who attacked me and I killed him.

That shouldn't be possible, unless of you course you declared him aswell. In which case you probably would have attacked and killed him had he not hit you first.
Silvanus2005-03-07 00:17:25
He attacked me in Glomdoring. It said I had to declare him to attack him. I declared him.
Veonira2005-03-07 00:17:46
Looking at it logically. How the hell is someone supposed to quest for karma if they're getting afflictions all the time? Makes it a TAD difficult, especially with the death curse because you'll eventually die. I STRONGLY dislike curses if they're going to be so much of a bother. In fact, if someone curses me, it would almost encourage me to want to kill them more, which sort of defeats the purpose.
Silvanus2005-03-07 00:22:12
Wait nevermind. It wasn't him. I don't even remember when I killed Quentin.
Unknown2005-03-07 00:24:37
My opinion is, that curses should not interfere with your ability with which to gain karma in order to remove them. They can interfere with anything else they want, but they shouldn't interfere with your ability to get rid of them. This means most of the curses are fine, except chaos and death need some tweaking, since they essentially block you from questing/bashing in order to remove it.
However, curses like knowledge and so on, don't really interfere with your ability to get rid of the curse, so it is a minor annoyance in my opinion.
Edit: Oh oh, and reduce the karma drain penalty on having multiple blessings, so you can actually have a few up as a "defense" against curses.

The rate of affliction and damage causing curses has been greatly slowed down. Regarding wanting to kill people who curse you, this is indeed a strong disincentive not to curse people (especially as you lose the suspect standing), not to mention using karma that could be used for blessings.
What I suspect will happen is that after a period where people are playing around with curses (cursing someone just because they can), more thought will go into cursing and those most affected by curses will be the ones who make frequent random attacks on the prime in neutral territory.
Again, curses have just been implemented. Let's see where it goes and, if indeed there is a problem, we can look at revising the system. However, they've only bee in effect for 5 hours which isn't quite enough time to make a determination.
Ralshan2005-03-07 01:15:09
It was said "wait until curses are in before you complain about karma" and people still posted voluminously about karma. But, I didn't say anything, I just waited until curses are in.
Now, curses are in and people are posting voluminously about karma. Now it is said "wait until curses are in, for a bit longer, before you complain about karma".
Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on you.
That said, the death curse I got was toned down a lot, and I was able to get on with my life, and cure it twice in a row. The Oneiroi sent me a nice tell about how it should be toned down now. So Lusternia is on a short probation. We'll see.

No, I said we'd wait until curses are in for a bit longer before making a determination on its future (or fate if you prefer).
While I'd rather not use the word "complain" per se, I do hope we'll get immediate feedback so we can make adjustments (such as the feedback you gave us so we could adjust the rate of afflictions). This type of constructive feedback is different from "karma sucks, get rid of it, the admin are idiots" type of feedback.

I am sorry for the small hijack but is it correct that when you have 2 blessings that the upkeep is 2 karma per blessing per hour? The way I understand HELP KARMA is that the upkeep should be 1 karma per blessing per hour.
Bricriu2005-03-07 01:31:38
If Karma is going to have to exist, I'd rather see various levels of harshness (depending on if it is only status, or vengeance). Shameless plug to minor/major curses!
As it stands, I'd much rather get peaced from the Avenger than cursed, because it would take roughly the same amount of time online, but I don't have to worry about the other nasty affects from just a simple Avechna death. I can pop over into the planes, and hells, I won't even lose a ton of experience.

It is one karma upkeep for one blessing per hour, two karma upkeep per hour for 2, 3 per for 3. So you're going to have to spend 1 karma per hour for 1 blessing, 4 for 2, 9 for 3.
Drago2005-03-07 01:35:54
You conglutinate from Avenger off plane? I noticed you don't while in your city/village controlled by your city.
I like Karma.. I don't really like the idea of curses though (I don't like upkeep either ) but as I'm yet to have been cursed, I'm not really worried.
