My parents don't know what to do with it.

They still damn well touch it. I think it's part of the whole teacher "I know better than you" mentality. tongue.gif

My parents don't know how to use computer, they bought it for me, cause I really wanted it. I learned things about computers so I would know what I'm buying, they had no idea. But it's only mine, MINE! Woohoo, noone messes with it! *chuckle

ahhh buho... good memories... dos... making my first batch file... I felt sooo cool...

Why is it that crappy old computers feel so nostalgic? I found my old trs 80 in storage the other day... I was like wooohooo!

MEh, Gotsta love the walking FDISK people ~.~

Im always afraid my mother is going to call me one day and say, "Umm, I think I broke the internet." Then me firing up my browser and finding that she didnt just fry her own connection, but somehow managed to take down every server on earth with her... but those thoughts are usually restricted to my late afternoon food induced nightmare naps.

Thats why I just bought mum a second hand imac. My mother has this habit of getting "curious" and downloading all kinds of stuff. At least now she has this nice, big, friendly looking launcher bar at the bottom of the screen and if she messes it up, I just insert a recovery disk and have the machine back to happyness in 30 minutes.

Still, doesn't help me with:

Mum: Free IQ test!
Me: Don't pay for it
Mum: But its free!
Me: Don't pay for it
Mum: I've finished! Hm, its asking for a credit card number..
Me: *removes ethernet* don't pay for it.

Why am I bitter? Many years ago, when I was about 14, I brought home the school laptop over holidays. XT, 640k RAM, 384k EMS, ran Turbo Pascal 6 very nicely. I had my work on a floppy disk. Mum wants to play with Microsoft Works - so I give her the laptop. She then says "Hm, why are there these numbers on the screen?" .. she'd found the file manager menu and hit "format".

Then I discovered school had wiped their fileserver over the break and I had infact lost all of my programming work until then.

I cried. Like a baby. sniffle. sad.gif

Well I am lucky my parents know nothing whatsoever about technology let alone computers, they can't even set the video recorder. Which works as a bonus, I just have them convinced if they ever touch my computer that something bad will happen and I will lose everything, and now they are too scared to touch a computer....works for me wink.gif

Ah, yes, I have to watch my parents when they use my computer. Luckily this isn't too often, as we had a pretty decent computer, and it got sick, Dad bought a new one, and we fixed the old one, and I claimed it. Yay! My parents aren't that bad though, its my sister you have to watch. She's quite fond of free toolbars... mad.gif
