Statues + Fear

Fear runes should not be able to be placed on Statues or Totems. Currently, they are used with the intent if the target escapes then he or she will flee back into the statues. When this is done at the border of a village/city, it has the potential to indirectly force a target back into a village/city.

Given you cannot stand outside of a village and cast fear on someone such that they flee into the village, I don't understand what the difference is if fear is placed on a statue in the village.

Maybe it's because that:

-if you cast a fear spell on someone 1 room from the village, thus potentially forcing them in, they didn't enter the village in the first place - and because of that, it's illegal
-if a person is attacked by a fear spell on a statue, s/he must have entered the village to be attacked, so there is no distinction between the person leaving the village and immediately entering again and not leaving at all

Of course, we also have the Magnagoran case, where they have anti-enemy statues OUTSIDE of the city glare.gif

If I attack a village and run one room outside, no one is allowed to in any shape or form force me back into the village. That's more or less what fear does.

Look at Ethelon.

If Ethelon is using fear to force you into Celest then he is just as guilty. However, this isn't about statues outside of cities or villages. This is about using fear to strategically force a target to flee into the village/city.

I offer you one word, Compose.

Besides it is like you said, stratigically placed. There is no guarentee it is going to work either..
Richter2005-03-10 22:02:05
Good advice.

Not that I ever have to anyway. *love totems*

There is never a guarentee. I tumbled out three times but feared in for a fourth time in a row the very second I stood.
Shiri2005-03-10 22:04:46
Out of luck, Richter. Narsrim has wolf too - it only works on Caw, Cosmic fear, and Illusion fear.
Torak2005-03-10 22:06:10
You obviously had alot of time to compose then..

And someone has the option to sit to to stop beckon... that doesn't make it anymore legit to beckon someone into a statue in a village/city.
Torak2005-03-10 22:11:01
No, but just because you don't know how to compose doesnt make fear on a statue illegit. It happened in the city, its fine if you ask me.
Shiri2005-03-10 22:14:16
...I didn't understand that last point, Torak.

Beckon - can be prevented by sitting. Illegal.
Fear - can be prevented by composing. Legitimate? Supposedly? Sure it has less chance of succeeding, but does that mean that if I fight badly on purpose Avenger shouldn't hit me? :/

So you enter an enemy village and get hit by the statue with fear and then leave the room and reenter the village due to fear, which you got due to entering a village that you are enemied to?

blink.gif I don't see the problem.
Silvanus2005-03-10 22:22:30
The statues outside of Magnagora's gates do not have fear on them, considering I made the runes to place on there. Get the information correct.

The statues inside Acknor do have fear on them.
Torak2005-03-10 22:40:08
Shiri, if you get hit by something inside the village, and you try to run and it makes you go back in how is that illegal or cheap..explain.

This argument is pointless. You need to have entered the village to get hit by the statue, how is it not your fault if you reenter due to fear, you can't blame the statue maker or anyone else for that matter.
Shiri2005-03-10 22:50:31
Because, Alef, if you run into a village, then run out, and are beckoned back in, it's illegal.

The point is the inconsistency. It's as illegal as beckoning is, or should be, I'm not saying (or I haven't yet) whether EITHER should or should not be legal.

Revan2005-03-10 22:53:01
Fear is not a guaranteed return trip into the village. Beckon is. There is a difference

Neither is beckon. Someone can sit and stop it.
