Ok, currently the transcendant jewelry ability is to cut a perfect gemstone after a number of tries which then allows you to transfix everyone in the room by showing it off. While this is fine, I have a suggestion for an additional transcendant skill:
SOULGEM
Short:
Infuse your life essence to create a gem of perfection.
Long:
Syntax: GEMCUT SOUL
AFFIX GEM HERE/ON STATUE
By focusing your will and mastery you can craft one of the rare soul gems. By funnelling your own essence into the bewitching stone, the pulse of your spirit will be entwined so strongly that any attempts to sense or spy on you will be drawn instead to the location of your gem. Additionally, those who would magically teleport to you will instead arrive in the location of the soul gem. This beautiful creation will only last for a short time before disintegrating, and anyone will be able to smash your gem or destroy the statue to which it is affixed.
Notes:.
The gem should decay within a few months.
Anyone is able to SMASH GEM, which will destroy it, or destroy the statue which holds it.
Effectively, anyone trying to sense or teleport to the particular player will instead sense the location of the gem, or teleport to that location. Probably wouldn't affect thirdeye.
Meh, anyway, I'd find that more useful than what we have now. Just an idea.

Say.... that sounds like the exact same ability that was proposed in Aetolia, in a proposed skillset called Glamour, that had to do with Fae magics. Or something. It has been awhile. Is that where you got the idea?
Shiri2005-03-08 12:46:34
Yeah, I don't think the current ones have been useful since, like, Val used one in Open BETA when all the Celestian novices were fighting him. (And then next time I brought faeleaf. MUAHAHA.)
Elryn2005-03-08 12:47:12
Erk, caught! Where did you hear about that from?
But anyway, that skillset was never used, so I see no harm in recycling a skill where it might be useful.

i thought jewelery was just about cutting gems and making pretty rings etc, why do you need some special gem thing when the rest of us go without *peer*

All trades have a useful transcendent skill of some kind. Tailors get to make (what should be) the ultimate influencing tool, Alchemists get a stone that makes their elixirs work better, Herbalists get to eat herbs faster, and so on.
Currently, the trans Jewelry bonus is a gem that is basically a stackable web, blocked by blindness. Its alright... true, but there's no reason not to work for something better.

Alternatively, what about a special wand that costs a fortune to make but will hold a single enchantment permanently? *hum*
Too much, that time?

I do like the idea of being able to cut more gems with magickal properties.
Gem of Instant Death.
Attacked is to this twinkling gem is a note that reads:
Anything this gem touches dies instantly. Please don't let this gem touch the ground or the entire basin will be destroyed
Thank you - The Soulless.
Gem of Pain and Suffering
Attached to this twinkling gem is a note that reads:
It would not be wise to stick this up your bum.
Thank you - The souless

The Gem of Pain and Suffering is spiky with lots of sharp edges isn't it.
Nayl2005-03-08 15:25:21
I think it glows, and pulsates, changing size, and randomly pokes out spikey bits. So, sometimes.

Bad Elryn with the wand thing. (Well, unless it was unique, actually...)
And no, the perfection gem is NOT alright. Specially not for a Hartstone, who unlike Moondancers/Celestines can't strip blindness except with a tonne of lucky spring'ing.

For the love of god, do Not give that first gem to Guido.

Yeah, I meant it like a splendour outfit... only one of them and only usuable by the jeweller. Let's call it a stave, because that is such a weird but wonderful word.
And transfix isn't really -that- bad. Not everyone remembers to have blindness up, and its fun for messing around.
Shiri2005-03-08 22:43:00
I thought staves was the plural of staff. Oh well. And...eeh, before a fight, I usually succor everyone, and give faeleaf to all those as haven't got it. Seems other team leaders have been remiss in that!
eirene2005-03-09 20:59:03
wait, what's the trans tailor thingie do? I want one!
Ceres2005-03-09 22:14:51
Nothing.
Ialie2005-03-09 22:36:46
Tailors can make greatrobes can't they?
Terenas2005-03-09 23:05:02
Trans tailors can make Splendor Robes, they get Greatrobes somewhere before there. But the stats of Splendor Robes seem to be average but Greatrobes can get as high as 65 or so in one stat, also Splendor don't seem to confer any more bonus than Greatrobes I've heard. Veonira posted about this somewhere before.

Why give jewelers a trans ability (the wand thing) that, in my opinion, is BETTER than the Crown of Magi thing (trans enchantment)? Seems absolutely stupid in my opinion, since the ENTIRE point of putting enchantment in the cities was to keep it out of the hands of communes, visa-versa with alchemy. Wouldn't that kind of be unfair? I mean, yea, it's ONLY one enchantment, and probably not that big of a deal. But, still. If that's the case, why can't the trans-enchantment ability be to make one vial that never empties? =\\
Elryn2005-03-10 00:34:46
Aye Erion, calm yourself. I wasn't serious about the wand. What does the Crown of the Magi do again?
Anyway, I still think the gem thing could work.
