Nooo. Down with ents, up with abilities. Passive effects ruin combat, we have too many already.
Murphy2005-03-09 15:26:41
Here here Amaru!!!

Up with abilities, and the reliable method of combat (I hate how knighthood stuff is so random, and I hated how the demon was random too)

Gimme a snakie type here, envenom dirk with delphinium envenom dirk with delphinium dstab @target, illusion to get off herb balance, bite with relapse, illusion cure message for relapse, bite with camus a few times and watch someone have a quadruple relapse of camus........-drool- ahh the memories. I want phase, a veil of the sphinx and a lvl 3 artie bow.

ahhhhhhhhhhh

I think the passive attacks horse is already way out of the barn. At least 2/3 of guilds have them and in many cases they're the meat-and-potatoes of their entire skillset-set and particularly their combat possibilities. If anything, Lusternia seems to have moved quite a ways towards more emphasis on passive attacks compared to other IRE games. Moving away from them would require a major retooling of demesnes, for one thing, and that's just not going to happen.

But I don't necessarily want a passive attack, so much as something that works. It's just easy for people to miss how significant a difference even a small passive attack makes to strategics. But I'm perfectly happy with a solution that doesn't depend on them, so long as it brings us active-only-attackers into line with the passive-attackers.

You have an angel, you don't have room to complain!

I agree that having falcons would make knights extremely powerful though, and since it has been done in all other IRE games, better to come up with something more original. Personally I find knights in Lusternia are already much better than in the other IRE games, we just need to get poisons to stick a bit better 75% as opposed to 50% and better accuracy for weapons. happy.gif
Amaru2005-03-09 18:39:53
Terenas! Don't assume that because I have passive effects, I like them. Or because I use trueheal, I don't think it needs changes. Etc.

IC is IC, OOC is objective.
Gwylifar2005-03-09 22:13:52
Right. Good on you, Amaru.
Torak2005-03-09 23:39:03
Angels and Demons are fine, that is all.

Yep, and die to my monk in 2 combos or 2 chokes. Ahhhhh, the memeories.
Asarnil2005-03-10 06:05:16
Then try fighting a decent snake geb. Any snake of any decent level would have held breath and/or run when even approaching getting that close to dying.

Personally I found fighting as a snake on achaea some of the most invigorating pk experiences ever - and that was back when they really were overly bad, and you virtually had to reinvent your tactics on a moment's notice.

Paladins can get a horse, with useful riding skills.

Serenguard can get a squirrel.

Squirrels are weak, And nihilist novices get imps so dont think thats a good idea.
Sorry to burst your bubble. comfort.gif

i still want my falcon its abbilities should be roughly the same as achaea and it would be so cool
Gwylifar2005-03-10 13:55:13
I sent in an envoy report to my envoy that puts a passive attack ent into Moon, with the assumption one could be put into Stag as well. I really like how it turned out, it's very Moon-flavored, doing different things at different times of the month. Having one would make so many really interestingly complex strategic things possible, but it would be very challenging to use one effectively, and take some real thinking-out to see how to best use one depending on the moon phase at the time.

My envoy-report-report is almost 200 lines and includes changes in Knighthood, Blademaster (extensive), Athletics (not so many), Poisons, Totems (just one), and Moon. I sure hope my envoy likes them because I'm quite pleased with them. I think they fix the problems but produce interesting, properly-flavored, and strategically rich things instead of just "kewl p0werz fer me!" stuff. Some of it would in fact synergize better with the other two warrior guilds than with mine, but some of it better with mine than theirs.

I've fought all types of snakes. Still pretty easy to kill Asarnil, unless they continuously run. They are nothing but kai batteries if they stay in the room with me. Also, hold breath does not work if you are off balance/equilibrium. It is not hard to time chokes after attacks.
Ceres2005-03-10 17:08:33
Can't hurt gebby on Achaea as a snake.

Or, in fact, any good curer.
Asarnil2005-03-10 17:16:09
It depends on the extent of their anti-illusioning system. And unless you are using the best, your system is going to have holes any snake can exploit.
stagar2005-03-10 17:24:52
hmmm, I've seen a anti-illusion system that could detect 90% of the time, illusions, it would then tell you this is a illusion, reset all the herb balances and such to remove the illusion and..well, basically it refused to eat a herb brought on by a illusion. I'm sure their are plenty of coders who can make this, and if you got the creds, anyone can get a mask of lifevision

Love the Dragon! wizard.gif

If you came from Achaea you should go back and read the news. Falcons now strip random defenses, bring that over here and they'd have to nerf deep wounds and I love my deep wounds except for when its my wounds that are deep. Now, you can nerf rend, 500 bleed off two jabs is annoying, give them different upgrades!
Terenas2005-03-14 17:58:33
I just want extra damage, perhaps a Stag or Moon user can get a passive ability that can drains mana or health periodically, like Demons rite in Devotion. happy.gif
