Okay. I have way to much damn salt and I can barely give the stuff away. I have nothing to do with it and it just sits there uglyfying my rift. I was wondering hey........... What if, once per lusternian month you could.....
THROW SALT FOR LUCK
Raising you brows in hope you take a pinch of salt and throw it over your shoulder for good luck.
Now a few things can happen.
1. Nothing
THROW SALT FOR LUCK
Raising you brows in hope you take a pinch of salt and throw it over your shoulder for good luck.
You sigh in disappointment when nothing seems to happen
2. You find mysteriously find 50-10 gold.
THROW SALT FOR LUCK
Raising you brows in hope you take a pinch of salt and throw it over your shoulder for good luck.
A sudden change in your balance causes you to loose your footing. Glancing downwards in hopes of finding the culprit your eyes light up enthusiastically as you find golden coins twinkling along the ground.
3. Stat change
THROW SALT FOR LUCK
You seem to feel smarter-Intelligence
faster. -Dexterity
stronger. -Con
more attractive. -Charisma
able to go the distance. -Endurance
more in control of your life. -Willpower
Ok that was one idea
Now.. Bow about other things like wooden boxes or something that can hold more inventory and still put in our packs. It seems silly that people use letters for these things. What if we had actual items designed for this?

Give all your salt to an alchemist and have them make 50 uses out of it. That'd be another way for using the salt potion, instead of just a shield.
Buho2005-03-13 10:58:19
No more wine for you...
Ialie2005-03-13 10:59:59
AWww come on they aren't that bad.
Manjanaia2005-03-13 12:33:46
No they're fine, Buho just doesn't want to code them because he's too busy trying to code naked monkeys into the game.
Shiri2005-03-13 13:29:06
I always thought salt and sulfur were pathetic abilities. Maybe if everyone didn't have shield/pentagram...as is, it just saves people a whopping 30 mana! (Wait, 27 for the alchemists because they have nature torc anyway.) So something else for it to do would be neat. Maybe not throwing salt over your shoulder, because it's not as though people have little devil things sitting on them here *peer* but something!
Summer2005-03-13 14:09:39
Anyone knows if you have to have both arms unbroken and be standing to use the salt things?

Eh ? Little devil things? Throwing salt over ones shoulder is supposed to be something you do for good luck right?
Desdemona2005-03-13 19:48:48
What if you could rub salt on wounds to avoid clotting, and salt rooms to make them unharvestable areas? That would be an interesting use for salt.
Manjanaia2005-03-13 20:04:38
You could scatter it everywhere to stop snow settling and stop people bringing snowballs in and throwing them constantly.
Soll2005-03-13 20:14:29
And then throw sulfur about to create rooms that, when you walk through, make you give off the stinkyness.
Shiri2005-03-13 20:33:05
Yes, that's right Ialie, the mythology being that you have a little guardian angel sitting on your right shoulder, and a little devil's advocate sitting on your left shoulder, so you throw the salt over your left shoulder and get him in the eye.
Desdemona2005-03-13 20:33:18
What does stinkiness do in Lusternia? Like Skunk spray? I've heard it makes someone less efficient in influencing... and the obvious, makes someone stink terrible. Stinking should cause black out, near asphyxiation, eye burn (blindness), vomiting along with a terrible nausea. Cure to remove the odor should be scrubbing by water, a good one day's worth of scrubbing along with other things to cure the overall effects.

But throwing snowballs at random people is sooo fun!
Besides they put a stop to that .. now you have to declare somone before you can throw -anything- at them, including snowballs.. how lame is this?

YES IMPLEMENT THESE IDEAS, I mean Blademasters aren't already suffering enough with the endless stream of chervil following a rend.
Gwylifar2005-03-14 15:20:21
I was surprised colewort is used to preserve foods and not salt. A rare case where Lusternia had a chance to be historical and missed it.

Don't forget sugar
Plus some of the other nice herbs can be used for cooking too. (E.g. Marjoram and rosehips)

hmmm, Random non-salt related idea, as i'm assuming this thread is about random idea's in general...
I think that since knights can hack your ears off, and as it says in teh AB file "Get a gruesome trophy" we should have a skill to make a necklace out of a piece of leather and you can put ears on it and wear it and when you show it off you can see how many ears he's got, a ear decays off your necklace every 3 monthes, so you can see how much of a fighter someone is by the ears they keep.
It just seems cool to me, but then again, i'm The Dragon so being barbaric is kinda my thing.

Why put them ears on a trophy when you can eat them? *point Jad*
Asarnil2005-03-14 17:24:18
I doubt the string of ears and belt of scalps is going to be put in since blademasters have been campaigning for it since open beta and still had nothing happen about it. I could be wrong but it just seems to me the chances this late in the game are infintismally small.
