Hmm, I wonder if it would be possible to be able to configure the room description of male and female players seperately, so for example I might see Bob in dark blue and Jane in light blue? The default for new players would be the same colours, of course.
I've noticed that in Lusternia particularly it can be rather difficult to pick someone's gender from their name alone, and this would help avoid so many of those embarrassing situations where you refer to someone as "Lady" when in fact they couldn't be further from such a thing.
Perhaps also it would be helpful if you could colour fellow citizens/non-citizens differently, or even those of the your race differently. I think it would be wonderfully helpful.
(Playing devil's advocate, I suspect that allowing quick differentiation between male/female characters would heighten the sexual climate of Lusternia slightly, but I don't think it would have any serious implications. Any troublemakers can still do as much now, just with a bit more effort.)

*grin* That would save some folks from a bit of trouble. *coughSHIRISHAMARANYLAcough* Nice idea.

Would be very helpful.

I think you should just CHECK. It's not HARD. Go away, Desdemona.

Heh, handy. Why not.

You guys are lazy. Just look at the person! And if he or she has glaring spelling mistakes and such, point it out, it's quite fun.
Elryn2005-03-11 01:30:13
Well, there's no real need to colour channels either. After all, they each have explicit names.
Shiri2005-03-11 01:32:15
But that's constant! Whereas each person only has one gender, which doesn't change every time they say something new. I still hold that if you can't remember a person's gender after honoursing them you're in trouble!
Elryn2005-03-11 01:37:51
Aye, but everytime someone speaks on the same channel you see the name...
(Serenwilde): Someone says..
Its right there! When there are lots of people in your room, you don't know explicitly like that what their gender is.
Meh, I still think it would be a lovely convenience. Hmph.

Well it's just an awful funny first thing to want changing colour, when you could have said "city members" or "guild members" or something! Pff. You people.
Anyway, g'night.

Someone with a bit of coding skill (I know you're out there and want to make this) could make a little script that when you honours someone, it checks their gender and then adds them to the male or female list, and then highlights their name accordingly.

The good thing about being in a position of "power" is I can refer to people as "it" until I'm sure.
And Drago doesn't call people Sir/Madam/Lady/Lord/whatever, so that helps as well.
I could make the list thing but, you know, I don't really care
