Bug phoenix - well, if you played Sacrifice, you'd know what I mean. They're not the awesome noble phoenixes from Egyptian mythology (no, I don't care if they're "Bennu birds" or whatever), but they were pretty damn cool. Also, no, not dragons. They totally could not be villagers. And no, treants, not ents.

Who said dragons can't get villages? They could have a kingdom of true fire made dragons, flying across the fire plane breathing fire, almost immortal. With the mission of... um... hatching their fire eggs, to which they require a warm body to do the job for them, not their intense heat. So the quest would involve you the quester hatch fire dragon eggs, and guarding the eggs from the flames, sentient flames that only wish to totally ignite everything on their path with bursting fire. The fire dragons could also be considered somewhat as the ancestors of the Dracnari.

Bug phoenix, imo, are just an insult to all fire birds. So NO bug phoenix. If you want bugs+fire go with fire flies. Also, the "kingdom" of the fire dragons could be a mount of blazing inferno, that no one NO ONE not even their so-called "descendants" can enter, without a special blessing from the Supreme Fire Dragon. So, every month, in a ceremonial event, the egg-laying mother fire dragon needs to fly to one of the more temperate areas of the fire plane to lay their mystical eggs. Upon this place is that you meet the dragons and are anointed as Egg Watcher Hatcher by the Supreme Fire Dragon.

Also, I think you are wrong about the wisp. The wisp in Lusternia are EXACTLY what I'd expect them to be in myth a true will o' the wisp.

Also, Taurians is a perfect example of an original concept based losely on an mythology: minotaur. No problem with that. If you need to be poking a dictionary, make sure it is up to date and labels every fanatasy race out there, because Taurians would be a new addition. I can picture it now... Fire dragons for Fire. For Air, there could be the embodiments of the four winds, or 8 winds, each sending you with a different mission to do something, half of them as messanger missions taking you throughout Prime.
