When an item decays that has a fist sigil attached to it, the sigil decays with the item. In other Realms, the sigil was redepositied into one's inventory... is there a reason that it doesn't in Lusternia?

Everything attached to an item that decays, decay along with the item. I do hope it is changed one day.

Heh artifact runes better not decay!
silimaur2005-03-11 13:11:21
if artifact runes decay theyt would be pointlessly crap

Wow, Nars, I'm in your sig. I love you too. I'd ride you too, I'm sure.
Maybe.
Maybe.

I believe that in Lusternia and Achaea, attaching a sigil to an item makes it become "invisible". Yet again, what you think is a bug is not actually a bug. I am also fairly certain it is consistent with Achaea since I have a vague memory of coding that change in Achaea long ago. It had something to do with attaching flame sigils to packs and then being able to remove the flame sigil from the pack.

I love you, Roark.
Also, I do recall this change in Achaea as well. Was mucho annoying for we magi, summoning our staves every 2 months and needing a new fist sigil. A'course, then I got all political and stuff, and used stormhammer more often anyway, so they might have changed it back when I wasn't looking.

I don't like sigils decaying though... What if my flame decays before my monolith?

Sorry for not being clear. This is the issue:
I have to resummon my nature talisman (athame) every lusternian month. If I attach a fist sigil to it and wait a month, the talisman decays and with it goes the fist sigil. Thus, I have resummon my talisman and buy a brand new fist sigil. I was wondering if this can be changed so when the talisman (or for that matter, any item) decays, the sigil redeposits into one's inventory.
So... it isn't that you can remove sigils (which is where the flame sigil issue arose). After it is attached, it is attached for good. However, if the item decays before the sigil... the sigil pops back into your inventory.

I understand your point, as I faced the same issue as a magi in achaea. Although I only had to summon the staff every other month, I still needed a new sigil. Of course, I could make my own damn sigils, so it wasn't a huge deal, but it was annoying enough to make the '50 credits to permafy your staff' VERY attractive.
Personally, I think gold sinks are good things, anything which makes people spend money as 'upkeep' is good. But, I'm biased in that I have nothing I need to resummon like that.
I think, since the alchemy vs. enchantment thing is so pronounced, it should be kept as it is, since it gives the Serenwilde more dependence on enchanter's products. In all likelyhood, this is why it was done this way on purpose. I need a new health vial just as often as you need a new fist sigil. I say, deal with it. Or shell out 50 credits.

And for some reason Athames now decay every 1 month instead of every 2. Was this some vital balance issue, or what?
silimaur2005-03-15 09:45:04
well if a monolith decayed on the flor that would mean thered be flame sigils lying around everywhere...i think they should just decay with the monolith
