I don't like this idea. If a novice is getting hit by statues and guards, it means they had to have done something to get enemied. Not to mention that there are so many ways to abuse this, and that novices can learn a lot from a handful of deaths.
Shiri2005-03-12 22:04:27
No it doesn't mean that, Guido. Some statues are tuned against any non-Magnagoran, any Magnagoran, any Seren, etc..
Acrune2005-03-12 23:32:12
Oooooh, candy *wanders toward van*
Anyways, I like the idea of being able to summon novices, there are definatly times that I could have used that. Its very fusterating to hear novices asking for help, but being unable to do anything because the statue would be just as mean to me.

its a bad idea, it wont be used to help novices but instead will be used to drag them before the secs or gm or guildchampion for "lecture time" when they feel a novice is igoring them.
Acrune2005-03-13 05:10:15
Whats wrong with dragging novices to you if they're ignoring you? I imagine being rude to elder guildmembers is against the rules in most guilds.

Randomnewb closes his eyes, curls up in a ball, and falls asleep.

Randomnewb is suddenly enveloped in a swirling vortex of prismatic light and vanishes.
Randomnewb, Seeker of the Moon yells, "OMG TEH PAYN!!'

...abuse like that?
Bricriu2005-03-13 09:58:16
If something like this was implemented, something drastic would need to happen, or else, such tactics could easily be abused - breaking into shops, sneaking into enemy territory, etc etc.
They should be unranked. If they manage to hit the rankings, they should know what areas to not enter, or how to cure it.
That newbie must AGREE to be summoned - to avoid abuse of the next feature.
If you decide to summon them, for example, for 20 minutes, that newbie has all their stats halved - and innocence will go POOF for the 20 minuets, as well as grace, should they have it.
This should be, instead of a guild ability, an Ambassador/Ambassador aide ability - in essence, a city priviledge.

Wow, that sounds awfully harsh for the newbie. Unless there is a reason, if you have to punish, punish the summoner, not the poor little guy.
Personally, I have to agree with Guido here. I think novices learn more from deaths while they can afford them than being coddled until deaths mean a lot more. I also like to think that is why Resurgem doesn't work on non-mastered Seren's... so that novices are encouraged to learn from their own mistakes while they are in the position to do so without too much penalty.

Damn, you say that about EVERY signature. Time to get a new computer. Where did you get your processor? A box of crackerjacks?
I'm only kidding.

Shiri2005-03-13 14:19:29
No, no, yours is fine. And it's only Ialie's and Maedhros' old ones that lag me, your old one was just huuuge and went off my screen 'cause of the whole 800*600 thing!
And we HAVE a new computer, but it's downstairs in the kitchen where I can't really use it, and the monitor's too big and the keyboard's awful and the positioning's all wrong because I have STUPID PARENTS. >_<'

I guess you're one of a very few who likes tiny monitors

I'm only harsh in my suggestions so it's not something that is flagrantly abused.

Unknown2005-03-13 18:49:17
Cutting the newbies stats in half is a big nono. Why should someone have to suffer for being pulled out of an annoying situation.
Aebrin2005-03-14 02:26:43
Put a stone of healing in the Portal room like in Achaea. If they're newbies, they'll be able to just touch the stupid stone and get rid of all affliction.

That stone never worked for me

Plus, they got rid of it, to help stop abuse of it. :3

You could have tried using it after it was removed. It got removed pretty soon after it was put in I think.
