Being off-balance, off-equilibrium, or being stunned will stop a person from tumbling.
Unknown2005-03-25 23:39:27
I know of one way to stop tumble once it's already in progress. Though only Moondancers could do it effectively, and one other class can do it.

Also, can't tumble through a closed door.
Unknown2005-03-25 23:39:34
That can't be right, you're off balance from tumbling when you tumble.
Unknown2005-03-25 23:40:17
Yeah, I killed Ceres by doing chasm on her after mage locking the door out of the room. I'm such a lameass happy.gif

He meant, being off equilibrium, or off balance, or stunned, stops tumbling from BEGINNING, it however does not stop a tumble in progress.
Unknown2005-03-25 23:42:25
There are two other things that stop a tumble in progress I just remembered.
Richter2005-03-25 23:42:33
Haha, that was like saying you have no balance after mace strikes, so... you can't use them because of... *temples* tongue.gif
Silvanus2005-03-25 23:46:29
You can chasm then be stunned and still go, you just can't be prone.
Terenas2005-03-26 04:20:04
Forcing someone to move in a blocked direction stops tumble, shyness as well.

Actually, if you see them tumbling north, just force NORTH or N and it stops tumble. Heck, you can try it yourself, start tumble, then enter the direction your going to cancel it.
Unknown2005-03-27 05:53:42
Nah you can be prone too. And there is a shyness rune but shyness is so easily cured (compose still do it?) that I guess there is no sure fire way to chasm someone besides getting them in a magelocked door.

Be creative. I'm sure you can think of something but just in case that's not your style:

Geomancers get poison gas which will knock you unconscious in 45 seconds or so even with constitution up. I saw Silvanus -easily- kill Thorgal (who is damn good) with this tactic. You cannot tumble if unconscious. He also killed Daevos just by starting chasm as soon as stun hit.

Dreamweaver can embed blackout. Once it hits, start chasm. They'll have what... 0.75 seconds to tumble out?
Silvanus2005-03-27 06:57:45
About 2.5 seconds from the second to last message, anyone with size 12 or higher would be dead.

This is when I'm glad no Geomancer have taken Dreamweaving yet, I'm sorry but deepsleep/poison gas/black out/chasm/prone/stun/rubble/stonewall is just too unbelievably godly. crying.gif

You forgot being able to cast mist over your entire demesne that makes people slowly sleepier too.

Agreed. Poison gas is too fast.
Unknown2005-03-27 08:40:26
Wow, I really didn't think of poison gas, durrr.

As for blackout, that is so going to get nerfed that I'm not even bothering to get it wink.gif

I actually think the gas is -worse- than the blackout.
Revan2005-03-27 09:43:10
If you have consciousness in Athletics, poison gas becomes useless besides the puking damage (which is a help, I won't deny that it is good). Therefore, if your opponent has that, relying on gas for chasm isn't a good idea.
