so my request is this - let us have an editor like in journals, letters, etc. for ads, so we can a) have long ones (the above is what happened when we tried it in zmud. Java cut it off too, and AL and ROA clients crashed when I tried to put it in. and change them around easily rather than spending 4 hours on a single ad (which is what I did designing that before we got to the putting it in stage).



4 hours down the drain

Up until a week or two ago the ads were A LOT longer. I used two ads; one had all forging item names and prices, the other had the comm requirements. They were rather long, but then again, forgers can make a TON of stuff. I'm no sure why, but they nerfed the ad length because the same ads that fit a week ago only fit about 25% now.

I've messed with the length a little bit, there's NO WAY of fitting all the forging items in one ad no matter how much I strip it down. This weekend I'm mixing the two ads and breaking them down again. It really sucks, but I'm going to have a dozen ads. One for swords, one for bludgeons, one for leather, etc.. Seems like fewer/longer ads would be better than many/shorter ones, but that's just my opinion I suppose. -shrug-

seriously.. that's still way, way too long for an ad.

If you make an ad, and I need to scroll up to read it, you're not getting any money from me regardless of how pretty/informative your ad may be.

Make it simple and stick a simple "For further infomation, contact Ibaesha." I, personally, would much rather knowing that someone is reading my ad and asking me a question, then not knowing at all.

Plus long ads really annoy me.

Especially the ones that look like scrolls, swords, bows and arrows, angels, or whatever other random asci pictures people need to use.

Oh and, two other things -
For the finest cooking known to mortalkind - Wrong, me, Tenqual and Jadryga supply that *mmm merian steak*
Magnagorans will not be served either - they don't need your silly cooking Carrion and me/tenqual/jadryga more then make up for anything Serenwilde could make.

But seriously, all your excess stuff like this (which is going to turn out wrong, meh) isn't really needed at all. Cut down on the info you're trying to send across. If they want to know if its vegetarian, they can ask, if they want to know how much it costs to get it fortified, they can ask.

Really, if they want to know the prices they can ask as well.

I'd suggest putting a "I can cook all public recipes, as well as the following (your cartel) specific recipes: (list of recipes). If you've any questions about the recipes, or would like to enquire about pricing, please contact me."

Long ads = very informative, but no way I'm gonna do more than scan through them if I'm forced to. Usually I just go on to someone with a shorter ad.

I've seen ads that spam the hell out of me. I think the MORE option should be added so that I can read an ad page by page, instead of having this huge list scrolling down at the speed of light.

Me? I do read long ads. Why? As long as they are legible and not cluttered up. I wonder why they decided to make the ads shorter though... Fortunately we still have the forum section to promote things (and best of all no small length limit). So Druthalus, go ahead and post your original FORGING AD in forums.

Rogues are rogues... individuals. As a group they can't be counted, imo, cause they are somewhat disperesed doing their own thing. Even more, in Lusternia rogues are supposed to be like pariah for a society so less of importance to cities and the large population of those cities.

Try an automated tell-based menu. Worked wonders for my Achaean jewelry trade, didn't cost me a sovereign, and let me know who my potential customers were, so I could haggle with them. Good stuff.

I'm on dialup now. Have been for a week or so. It's horrible. HORRIBLE. I'd suffer incredibly long drop down ads so long as I'm enjoying broadband.
