I've been playing IRE for quite sometime now but yeah i didnt start off here and quite honestly im starting to miss when mobs would rift to me, hit me with slow and web. Id start counterspelling and dispelling then theyd start summoning creatures then youd be running your ass off and they start summoning/teleporting. Then you start bashing them to disrupt their concentration, draining their mana just to stop their onslaught. Youd try to spell them up while they countered your own spells. web them to stop them from moving... then fun stuff like them doing area effects and stripping defences of players and killing them. Basically the mob challenge... and actually having more tactical ways of dealing with them... not just a how well i can tank vs how much i can deal ratio. Miss having mobs that fight according to how you fight or mobs that learn each time they die.

Also miss elite global quests... those things that are pretty much a mystery and takes a really long time to solve and requires you to go everywhere to do them. Not time like it takes ages of repetative work or because you have to wait so and so days. Time because its that hard to figure out. Like you have to rack your brains out to solve them. Those ones that make 9/10 of the ones who try to solve them go screw that I'm stumped, its too hard.

Also miss taskmaster type quests. Where questers gather in some room waiting for some dude to give them a stupid quest which has them running around and doing things then come back for a small reward and wait again.

the pk and political structures here are nice though...

oh also miss fishing... then again id probably just get jumped while i was fishing.

Fishing was bad, Alger! The price of credits skyrocketed due to that. Credits in Achaea sell for around 7k per now. And that's considered cheap. smile.gif

I miss my falcon..

Battlecry
Arc
Impale/Disembowel (without the need for deepwound damage *reminisces*)
Body Runes
Honours Mobs
Shatter
Tattoos!

Now see, I agree with you 100%. I've never played a mud with that sort of player vs mob action, but it'd be great. I've been playing IRE for awhile yet and haven't come across a mob I can web. That could be because I only played Achaea, before moving on there better things. Good old Lusternia. Still, that sort of thing would be great to see. Perhaps when the Fire Plane is unearthed (whatever) there might be hordes of beasts that you'd have to do a bit more than tank, swing and jab at.

I miss being able to tank knights.

Laysus2005-03-15 03:37:11

I disemboweled often.
Silvanus2005-03-15 03:48:09
I want to be able to boulderblast mobs.

Disemboweling was impossible against anyone with decent skill level. In Imperian at least.

Arts does the same effect as lifevision, when it comes to illusions. At trans, it actually warns you more then lifevision ever did. I think it's thirdeye that gives you the ability to see hidden... So what do you need lifevision for? doh.gif

Agreed to everything Alger and Malicia said. If Mobs were smarter, it would be more fun to go hunt and bash. Repetitive swinging while sipping potions and -maybe- even having to stand up or eat a herb that you -know- you will need because the critters do the same all the time gets tedious.

I liked fishing too. Not because of the money.

Honours Mobs? what are those? Doesnt matter, i dont care, i want that too.
Alger2005-03-15 05:56:21
because lifevision wasnt just those two but illusion detect, thirdeye, nightvision, and hypersight all roled into one with no upkeep. tongue.gif

There is a difference. Prior, there was two forms of concealment. Hiding and Shroud. Shroud disguises your movement and actions while in a room, as well as your entering and exiting. You are invisible to glance and look, unless they have thirdeye. Thirdeye only allows you to see them in the room, you cannot see them enter and leave, or pickup objects or perform other actions. Lifevision (Or Hypersight) allowed you to see as if they weren't shrouded at all. Hiding was a bit different, hiding made so you were invisible in the room to even thirdeye, but actions such as entering and leaving the room remained completely visible. Hiding does not currently exist in Lusternia in any form, shroud does (Yesod, Nature Camouflage, Spiritbond Night, etc) However, if you were a class that could combine shrouding + hiding, you were invisible to everything (including thirdeye) save lifevision (hypersight).

Though, evade could mask your entering and exiting a room even to Lifevision/Hypersight. There was also ghost and phase, but that doesn't need to be explained.

I'd like to be able to fight mobs more like players too. What I wouldn't give for barge/tackle/headbutt to be useful on them too...
Hajamin2005-03-15 06:09:09
The more realistic mobs is something I would like to see too... But alas that would be a HUGE task, and at this time there is far more important development issues to attend too. One day, I'll get around too it. tongue.gif
Alger2005-03-15 06:29:30
hehe yeah it would, coding the skills, the mob abilities, the ai and balance issues too. You would need help, mhm. They're just ideas to put on a list though smile.gif

When you do get around to it though that would be awesome.
Aether2005-03-15 06:34:12
Excellent =)
Ialie2005-03-15 06:37:59
There is fishing in imperian and the credits there are about the same price they are here.
Laysus2005-03-15 12:32:52
smaller player base on imperian, though. When you have 200-odd people raking in the cash from fishing, credit prices skyrocket.
