Well, if its any consolation I just got jerked around by Celest and all them. Surely not a very newbie friendly place, and surely not very friendly period.

Celest!= good guy.
That's the only advice I'll give you, do not attribute achaean thoughts of alignment to Lusternia's cities/communes.
Enough people did it at the start that most of it sticks, which is really stupid. Please, please don't say "But Celest is a good city, and Magnagora is evil" OOCly, because they aren't.

I have no idea how Serenwilde treats novices, but as long as you are not a total idiot, Magnagora will treat you fairly well as a newbie/novice.

Excuse my ignorance but I assume by Bop you don't mean the Balance of Power game... so what are you refering to?

For example, you can have the darker forestals that want to raze every city to the ground and rule the world with a bark-covered iron fist by paving it with trees and moss (completely compatible with Serenwilde's history).

I worship those in Serenwilde who run with this view, but realistically the vocal majority take on the cutesy neutral aspect much to my disappointment. Expect a fair bit of that if you go forestal again.
And it is a very apt observation Roark, I would love to hear your thoughts on how a tainted 'commune' would affect the dynamics of the other three organizations sometime.

"Bop" from Achaea, was a land called Bopalopia. You get there by eating magic mushrooms in the Black forest, purple with yellow dots (or something, been ages since I was there). It was totally crazy, there were talking beavers, talking cows, a talking frog, talking pigs, this animate hookah, cats in hats. It was basically a fairy tale place.

Lots of friendly and charismatic people in Mag (Ya mags so didn't hear me say that). They're actually nicer than Mhaldor, in my opinion. Great if you can stand the potion ban.
Niara2005-03-16 11:47:01
What potion ban?
Summer2005-03-16 11:54:16
Fine fine, refill ban by alchemists.

I've been trying to subtley push this agenda without provoking arguements over CT.

Ah, that's what I'm missing...subtle. Laneth gets called mean on ct because Laneth has no pity for a Celestian who dies and happens to be the friend of some Serenwilder.

Bopalopia was an imaginary place that when you did shrooms you would hallucinate you were there. It was always an interesting drug trip.

Tsk tsk, encouraging the kids to take drugs. Lusternia would never do that....We prefer our alcohol here.

*- I feel this way becaues everything has a 'Bop' kind of feel. I know that the person that created this game also created similar areas in Achaea. I love them but they drive me daffy sometimes.Â

I think saying it feels a lot like Bopalopia is a bit unfair. Spend some time in Nil if you want to see a land that would even make Zsarachnor shudder in fear. Though bumping into cows on Avechna's Peak... Hmmm...
I would add one more pro. (Yes, I'm tooting my own horn. ) The #1 compliment we get is that the producers here listen to the players and react extremely swiftly to player feedback, and are more likely to respond to player feedback. And do you see any of the producers from the other games posting on the forums info to help out a newb like this? (Well maybe they do, but I don't think that's the case...)

I can see the rooms Estarra wrote. To say it has a Bopalopia feel IS unfair, because Estarra wrote them. The style's there. I enjoy it. Bopalopia was by far my favourite place on Achaea, followed by Maim's and then Riparium. Estarra has this way of writing room descs, like she could put her signature on them and it would be repetative. At least, so I think.
And I've NEVER, EVER been in a MUD where the Imms were so responsive. And I've been in some heavy RP MUDs, where the Imms are there, up front, etc. But they don't go near to the extent of this MUD with events, divine/mortal interraction, and the over-all reaction. This game really is for the players, and not for a bunch of divine looking for a laugh.
Unknown2005-03-16 12:41:34
The admins and divine are also very snuggly, they love a good cuddle.
I just wanted to add, seriously, that this has turned into a very useful thread. Thanks to the starter and to Erion (I think) for the post detailing the three choices.

On a totally radical idea, IE, the topic.
I do everything I can for newbies, if I run into them, and they require
help, I mean, hell, I gave a Celestian novice a health and mana vial
because they were new, and didn't know about sleeping, and
meditating, so I taught them about that, gave them the vials,
then referred them to their Guild, so, not everyone's a Jackass
