I've been wondering a bit... why was the essence changed back to 1p? It was changed to 5 some time ago and now it's back at 1. Could it be that the nexuses are gaining power at a rate alarming to the Gods? Anyways, I thought I'd voice my question.

I'm more interested in why no changes were made to Serenwilde's power generation. The fact that they receives 3k power daily from totems really annoys me.
Vix2005-03-18 02:50:04
How much does Magnagora and Celest generate per day?
Daevos2005-03-18 02:58:44
Magnagora generates passively 1000 power from the Necromentate and roughly 300, 800, or 1300 from each village depending on our political structure. There are also a few methods of generating small amounts of power consistently, and essences used to be one of the better methods for that. The best is darkcalling from nodes, which I think is the one advantage in power generation that the cities have over Serenwilde.

Make all the totems tuneable at once, and the power regeneration could be dropped down to that of the Seals. I mean, statues now take 10 minutes to destroy, which for all intents and purposes, is indestructible, which was prior the only advantage the totems had, which was the explanation for why they shouldn't all be tuneable.

What purpose does power serve, if not to create a meaningful resource? With power being practically unlimited, I started using quickening to BASH. Heck, why not? Just have to kill a leech for every lobstrosity. Maybe link Scorpio for a minute. Personally, I think it was a bad change from day one. I'd love to see the day that a nexus is at 0 power. Sweet, sweet love.

Serenwilde gets power from silver essence, pixies, Fae, totems, and villages.
Magnagora gets power from dark essence, the Necromentate, and villages.
Celest gets power from light essence, supplicants, and villages.
I think that's how it works. I don't know if Magnagora/Celest get power from their respective cosmic planes, but I doubt it. It is obvious, even without looking at the fact that totems generate so much more power that the Necromentate or anything that Celest has, that Serenwilde has an advantage.
Also, does Celest gain any power from that bigass star over the city? Or is that related to the supplicants?

The Star is the equivalent of the Necromentate, as the supplicants are to our spikes
Erion2005-03-18 03:26:49
We do have the slight advantage of bashing Faethorn and feeding them to Gorgulu, for power.
Daevos2005-03-18 03:30:26
Dont consider that a advantage. And anyway passive power generation matters most.
Elryn2005-03-18 03:37:43
Aren't imps/cherubs the equivalent of fae loyal to moon spirit?
Erion2005-03-18 03:39:45
Yea.
Daevos2005-03-18 03:39:52
No, we receive no power from them.
Erion2005-03-18 03:42:21
We get power for converting them, which is the equivilant of essence, at least in # of gains wise.
Daevos2005-03-18 03:44:18
No, its not. They gain 25 power passively every 32 hours for each fae. We have no equivalent.
Unknown2005-03-18 03:48:04
There is only 20 Fae anyway, and the number can drop. Anyway, totems generate 3070 power per month. This is the equivalent of the Necromentate/Seals and the Star of Celest with the supplicants praying, only they gain like 1000(?) power. However, totems generate more power, because of the distinct disadvantage that we can tune only but a few, whereas the city equivalent of statues, is much more effective.
Daevos2005-03-18 03:57:49
Totems still have the advantage of being indestructible. And really, it doesnt even matter that much, since you have wisp and flow.
Unknown2005-03-18 04:04:46
Here is something that is always true.
Passive defenses > Active player defenses
Players aren't always around. Passive defenses are. Player defenses are more effective when players are there, but overall, passive is more effective in keeping the general enemies at bay.

Daevos2005-03-18 04:07:09
I agree with you on that, and the same is true of power generation. But the power of wisp and flow in defense can not be discounted. The cities have no equivalent.
Unknown2005-03-18 04:09:07
They do have sigils, that we cannot remove, which blocks wisp and wisp is local area only (Not to mention, we have the distinct disadvantage of our commune territory being divided into three parts, two are separate areas, with a public road going through the middle, th other is on a completely different plane. And they have demesne summon, that cannot be blocked, and extends through area dividers.
