Essence change

Back to Common Grounds.

Three factors must be noted about demense summon:

1. It costs three power for each attempted summon, and it can be resisted, especially by some Serenwilde guilds.
2. The demense owner must be there, no one else can demense summon in their demense.
3. The demense must be maintained.

To tell you the truth though, I want both demense summon and wisp downgraded. I believe that instant summons without clear and easily maintained counters should not exist. And I would love to get a mass equivalent.

I consider wisp to be superior to demense though when it comes to city/commune/village defense.

I'd think it'd be funny for a Geomancer to demesne Northern Serenwilde. That would be pretty damn funny. All he'd have to do, is put up illusionary terrain, and no Hartstone Druid would be able to break the demesne without quite a bit learned into discernment. There are no guards up there, there are no tuned totems, because it is to hard to defend it. He'd be able to rule it for quite some I'll bet.

But, when it comes down to it, Serenwilde does have some very distinct advantages, being that it is the only Commune with two other Cities. It is MEANT to be different, as in not just another city. The other Communes will certainly get similar advantages. However, being the only Commune also lends itself to having very distinct disadvantages as well, that are quite crippling when you think about it all in perspective. It balances things out.

So...

Totems - 3070 power/month.
Fae - 500 power/month, sometimes less.
Villages - I'll estimate 1000. Correct me if i'm wrong.

So, that's roughly 5000 power per month, once you factor in essence and pixies. Is that about right?
Daevos2005-03-18 04:37:33
They receive about 2500 from all of their villages currently. Varying amounts of 800s from each village daily.
Unknown2005-03-18 04:49:32
6000-7000 power per month gain, then.

So I assume Magnagora has a gain of, with the Necromentate, villages, and dark essence, around 3000-4000 power. You said 1K or so for Necromentate, and I'm guessing you get about as much as them them it comes to villages.

Or i'm terribly off.

Indeed. Let me make my previous assessment more correct through mass generalization.

Serenwilde power: Lots.
Magnagora power: No.
Celest power: Hah.

You never fail to amuse me, Guido. laugh.gif
Aebrin2005-03-18 05:45:37
It's not just that as well,

when it was 5 power per essence, we had Seren coming into Water pretty often as well.

So basically the Seren get the power from moon essence, and whatever they can scrounge from Earth as well.

Seren had a big advantage in Power, and probably still do, from what I read.

Maybe we just need to, waht is it?, warp the damn archways and don't let the Seren through.
Xavius2005-03-18 05:48:08
As a matter of principle, Celestians should be a little more upset that Serens are showing up and corrupting Light essence. Not that I'm looking forward to getting pwned by Magnagora again, but...yeah.
Singollo2005-03-18 05:58:16
Yeah, that would be a good way to lose your support base tongue.gif
Malicia2005-03-18 06:02:11
The Celestians should be grateful we don't invade Celestia, slay your angels, fat babies, steal their harps, burst your bubbles and spit in the Pool of Stars.

Okay, okay, I'm kidding. Although, if the Celestians decide to police the water plane, you'll see alot of fighting. There are more anti-Celestians than there are pro. We don't bash Earth often. You might get a few Serens skipping through there, but not often.

Anyhow, I think that's it's pretty fair. Mr. Anonymous mentioned this before and I agree- With the way totems work, it's a fair trade-off. They're not good for much else. We have..nearly 300 totems and only a third of them are operational after the downgrade. At least the cities get statues. The fae only bring in 25 power during a Full Moon period.
Aebrin2005-03-18 06:06:41
Pfff it's not as if Seren is not waiting for that chance anyway.
Malicia2005-03-18 06:08:10
Right. We're waiting to raid Celestia..while most of us die for your inept city as they attempt to take a village. I died three times last time. Good to know how appreciated it is.
Singollo2005-03-18 06:16:53
Yeah, jerkbags.
Daganev2005-03-18 06:17:50
What do you expect from the people who wish they could rebuild their empire but can't so spend time pretending to like trees.

Celest has more power than Magnagora.

Nyah.
