My protege just changed his name to 'Suckmyb***s'. You can figure out the letters missing. But I, as a guildrank 15 secretary, can't outguild him. WHY???
More people need the outguild priv. As far as I know, only gr19 and up can outguild. But if no one is around, we have to put up with novices like that, and people like the other person I needed to outguild, who was happily bashing dragon turtles and refused to stop.

Because you'd whore your nifty outguilding powers on people you happened to not like, of course. I'm not sure why you would, and I have no empirical evidence of any corruption like that, but that's what people keep telling me would happen.
Acrune2005-03-19 03:04:53
If you can't trust a person to not abuse their powers, they shouldn't have a position in the guild. Simple as that.
Sylphas2005-03-19 03:08:18
Hmm, wonder if we can shoot down all the lame arguments before people make them for real. It's worth a shot.
*ahem*
But what if the guild leadership is all friends, and doesn't let anyone get enough rank to contest them, all the while abusing their powers and such, etc, etc.

Not sure how not letting secretaries outguild would prevent that.
Sylphas2005-03-19 03:18:17
Hmm, that's all I can think of. Any other objections you want to deal with?
Acrune2005-03-19 03:27:34
Personally, I can't think of any reasons that secretaries can't outguild. I mean, isn't their whole purpose to help out with important things like that? I was surprised when I hit guildrank 15 and STILL couldn't do it.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

Outguilding should be left in the hands of a select few. Secs not being one of the few.
Aebrin2005-03-19 05:01:29
In Achaea, secs could outguild. Donno why you can't here.

Maybe not just secretaries strait out. But maybe those that are, oh, say at least GR15. And hey, that's what Acrune is saying.

Yea. See, he's GR15, a Secretary, and still can't outguild. Wouldn't being GR15 and Secretary cover that "select few" enough for you.

Do you want to have to put up with someone named Suckmyb***s able to talk on your guild channels because no one is able to outguild? Or people slaying your city loyals able to stay in your guild?
Aebrin2005-03-19 05:07:30
Actually give some higher rank guildmembers ie 15 and above to QUIET someone so they can't use public channel. So if they can't outguild do:
QUIET
aha! Problem solved!
QUIET

Ixchilgal2005-03-19 07:47:17
How does using QUIET on them keep them from slaying city/guild loyals?
Richter2005-03-19 08:33:58
Doesn't matter. If they kill city/guild loyals, they're auto enemied and die.
Problem solved.

How about giving secs the ability to outguild novices, and only novices? So that way, they can weed out the problem citizens and guildmembers before they do too much more harm as a full guildmember
Unknown2005-03-19 09:08:32
Actually it'd be nice for Secretaries to have the ability to GF GDF, Log and Outguild, since they are only meant to be people who are looking after everyone in the Guild, not just the Novices, Undersects are for Novices
Revan2005-03-19 10:12:30
I thought all secretaries can outguild and inguild...
Drago2005-03-19 10:14:26
Secretaries aren't secretaries in the typical view of the name within IRE.
They don't get outguild, they can inguild, I don't see why they'd need to write on the logs, guildfavor/disfavor I can understand, but that's GR based anyway.

Acrune2005-03-19 14:30:08
I could live with only being able to outguild novices.
And secretaries CAN write on the log, and its very, very useful.
And if they kill city loyals, I'm not sure that they are booted from the city automatically, but even so, they definately aren't booted from the guild for killing city loyals. And the only guild loyal is in the guildhall, where novices can't get to it.
The QUIET command isn't a bad idea, although I can see that being abused.
Thats it for my pile of jumbled thoughts for a bit.

So the only reason people can think of is some vague fear of abuse? If you have corrupt secs, boot the bastards and it's all good. Is abusive outguilding really that prevalent in other realms that we all have to be scared of it here?
