You could just scrap it until you find a chance to fix it. Then it won't be there to bother people. Take it off peoples honours and stuff.

And I wouldn't be running around madly trying to get higher than landloper without even knowing it is broken! doh.gif

Feel free to keep it as it is, I rather like my explorers rank. wink.gif
Manjanaia2005-03-19 20:57:38
Yeah while you do it make sure to scrap Kaervas' first planewalker thing tongue.gif

About what Explorer ranking should someone have who has explored most of both Elemental planes, Celestia, and most of Prime? For some reason Pilgrim doesn't sound right to me, so I'll blame the Explorer rankings being broken up, too. biggrin.gif

Dont worry des, ive explored most of prime, both elemental planes and ethereal and am still a pilgrim too.

I was going to suggest the exact same thing. Add in a postscript at the bottom of 'help explorers' along the lines of "the Fellowship is currently disbanded" or whatever. Remove the line from people's honours, and the explorers ranking, until it's fixed.

Some people say they want to keep their explorer ranking, but that's like saying if experience was totally bugged you'd quite like to keep your level 93 that you received from killing a black rat. Of course you would, but you shouldn't.

Explorer rankings aren't currently a reflection of how much a person has actually explored - as people have said, some have explored dozens and dozens of areas and are still at the second or third rank, others got to Planeswalker after exploring the ocean, but hadn't even visited the astral. In addition, at the start of beta every building had no doors, or working locks (guildhalls, city buildings, stockrooms etc) meaning that people were easily and unfairly able to explore areas that ordinarily would have been far harder. Removing the rankings, and then starting everyone off again at the very bottom (when the Divine have time to fix the related bugs, that is) is the easiest and most fair way to solve this problem.

open source then credits to the first one who can figure it out! yey

Actually I'm glad to know it is still broken, and to hear from the divine to confirm that. I heard it was fixed too, started exploring everything (for the third time!) did everything apart from celest sewers, middle level of sea of despair and guildhalls and although I did move up a bit from where I was stuck before, on itinerant, it stopped again. doh.gif

I even started to doubt my own knowledge of the world... thinking I'd missed out some big areas..... however I finally decided to stop listening to mortal rumour and wait for official news on a fix! sad.gif

I personally wouldn't mind if it was reset. I did get quite a few locked places explored during the open beta, but as they probably didn't even get counted, it's no loss to me! Kearvas should definately keep his title. But apart from that, resetting with areas now locked would be good thing. Might make planeswalker more challenging. tongue.gif

Based on the achaea model, a level in explorer ranking is 5% of rooms, not counting newbie areas, with Planeswalker at 95%. Minus newbie your still looking at about 6000 rooms in the realm, which makes 300 rooms per level. closedeyes.gif

There are some players for whom exploration is their favorite part of the game, just they're few and far between, so I wouldn't count fixing this as top priority.
