Is it just me, or do you not really get any feedback when you're possessing someone?  As in, I make them do things, and they see them happening, but I get absolutely nothing.  Well, I saw it when I made them stand, but that's it.

Yep, thats what happened to me as well. I didn't know if it was working or not.

Also, I'm not sure 10 seconds is really a lot of time to cause havoc, the advantages over pooka that I can see are that you get to listen to the victims channels for 10 seconds and you get to speak on his channels for that 10 seconds... just doesn't seem like a huge deal. Especially when they can just repair the damage afterwards. I assume the most damaging commands (like manipulating city/guild privs) are unforceable too.

Am I missing some incredible use?
Desdemona2005-03-20 21:42:49
By what I've been reading... the skill seems great. But that's just my pro-Dreamweaving being awesome bias. Though, maybe 25 secs would make things greater.
Shiri2005-03-20 21:47:35
Curious - does possession let THEM act? Otherwise, making it longer would do much the same thing as Faethan pointed out that mask possession thing would do: re., nasty nasty robbing. sleep.gif
Unknown2005-03-20 21:47:42
I don't know what it takes to use this possession thing, but it looks extremely powerful.

For example:

1. Have three dreamweavers sitting around during a raid.

2. Daevos, Ixion, Murphy, and some others all enter and start kicking in skulls.

3. Daevos, Ixion, and Murphy are possessed. The dreamweavers lead them away from the battle, perhaps into guards or statues if possible, while the other defenders easily kill the remaining raiders.
Sylphas2005-03-20 21:48:45
They have to be asleep.
Unknown2005-03-20 21:49:42
Oh, then the skill is utterly worthless.
Sylphas2005-03-20 21:58:13
If I can get them asleep, no way am I burning 10 power to possess. I'll keep them asleep and let the demesne rip them apart.
Terenas2005-03-20 21:59:14
I think there was a reason why the gods made possession only 10 seconds. If you could take control of someone for half a minute that would be utterly absurd. Force kick guards in a room full of guards, force get gold from pack, force drop gold or weapons (so the dreamform can pick them up right after possession ended), force empty vials, etc. There are way too many potential for abuse with this ability if it was extended to far. 10 seconds might be perhaps too little right now, but once people played around with their skills more and got creative enough, then there will definitely be huge potential for abuses or uses.
Thorgal2005-03-20 22:07:14
10 seconds of control means you can strip the person of everything he posesses, force him to a 10 power costing feature and drain his mana to 0 by spamming focus. In 10 seconds the person will be stripped of power, mana, clothing, backpack and jewelry. I.e. everything but armour, since that takes balance to remove.

All it takes is the first person to abuse it. It's a lot more abusable than dilute, and that says a lot.

(I bought 50 health vials and 30 mana vials, went defending village, got diluted, lost it all, sound fair to anyone?) This'll be much worse.

And as a sidenote, why on earth would any mage by its senses want to pick runes now? Even fusing falls to nothingness compared to embedding.
Shamarah2005-03-20 22:15:42
There's another fun use for Posess that I can think up, unfortunately I don't have it yet, but I plan to get it soon.

No, I'm not telling what it is smile.gif

Indeed, the most interesting use I can think of using it for hasn't been mentioned yet...
Shamarah2005-03-20 22:52:18
We're probably thinking along the same lines.

Oh, and I heard you can't force people into enemy territory via possess - is that true?

Wrong. No I'm not telling why.
Bricriu2005-03-20 22:58:52
Before the evil starts then, I REALLY Hope you cannot make someone quit a guild or city or order, or forget skills, too.

Because that would be uber-lame.

This smells like occie-pie:

"They're overpowered!" ...

"No they're not, you people just don't know how to handle it!"

...6 years later...

"Okay, they were overpowered, there a was a slight oversighted bug doubling the entity speed, sorry folks!"

Just kidding of course, I haven't even encountered a dreamweaver yet, it's late, I'm tired, and in the mood for sarcasm.
Roul2005-03-20 23:06:41
All I would do, if I could possess people, is just make them sing "I'm a little teapot" over and over.

DAEVOS SING.
Bricriu2005-03-20 23:09:20
That is you. There ARE malicious people in the game, only out to ruin other fun for other people, be it:

forcing them to kick a guard at their nexus,
forcing them to quit guild/city/order,
forcing them to forget skills,
transfering ownership of a manse or clan,
robbing people's shops when there is a misweave in play.

Granted, they are not every player, but losers like them DO exist, who would do such things to other players if only for kicks.
Shamarah2005-03-20 23:10:35
Posess can't do anything that force can't do. So you don't have to worry about that stuff.

That was the best oversight ever. The players have been complaining for close to 1 year, 2 years (?), that Soulmaster and Gremlin's speed were doubled, but Sarapis never even took a look at it until a few months ago and realized his mistake. Or the fact that defend and engage were broken for knights for over 5 years RL. It's great that the admins on Lusternia here actually listens and fixes problems in due time. But what's with all the secrecy to the players, we're the guinea pigs here true, but we should at least know what the limitations to these new skills are. At the moment they just seem incredibly powerful and abuseable, and will only make Mages and Druid's offensive even more powerful than they are right now. As anyone can see, within less than a few minutes after the abilities came out, someone already made an alt just to harass another player and multiple shops were completely wiped out. We will exploit anything and abuse anything we can until we're told that we're not supposed to. doh.gif
Roul2005-03-20 23:39:31
I'm all for ruining people's enjoyment of the game (if they're *that* attached to their character), but I do draw a line. And messing w/ any expensive/altered inventory, house, or guild/city status, goes well beyond that line. :/

And I hate that there are people who go beyond that line. =(
