Ignore the spazzy intro above, I just had poptarts and cherry coke for breakfast.
Anyhow, the idea itself (and no, it has nothing to do with nerfing skillsets!) I'd like to see a little cosmetic feature added, maybe as a reward for hitting cr6, or a ministry position, or one of the three Top Guild positions. Once you do so you are given an option to have a personalized symbol for you, that would obviously need to get approved by the Divine.
You could buy a token from Bob for the cost 50,000 gold or perhaps, 25 credits in the Artifact shops. (Sort of like Heraldry, in Achaea, but not so extensive) You then submit your design idea, and once approved, you could then BIND SEAL TO ME. The 'symbol' would be yours alone, and no one else could access it, and you could buy candles for wax, and perhaps for another 50k/25 credits, purchase Stamps with your seal imprinted on them, so you can stamp them on a letter, for example.
There could even be a spiffy help file, listing the seals already taken, so people don't submit a design that is already used! For example, you could:
HELP PERSONALSEALLIST
Erion bears the seal of : A Spike-impaled Fae.
Daevos bears the seal of : A crimson spiral under a Skull.
Munsia bears the seal of : A Bovine resting in the Grass.
Bricriu bears the seal of : An ouroborosian feathered serpent.
Yrael bears the seal of : A hand wielding golden sovereigns.
Yeah....so, I'm lame. But I want it!

I love this idea. It adds more of an RP value to the city positions, official letters having the seal so you know they're not forged.

Important people who don't hold city positions should be able to request them too. Perhaps for an extra amount of gold. Otherwise i'll feel left out.
Guido bears the seal of : A Crow grasping a Deer in its Talons.
Barry bears the seal of : A Quill superimposed over a piece of Parchment.

This would be my crest.
It is a photoshop of a much larger sketch I did when I was back in school and could still draw. But it turned out so well, I have pretty much started using that as my official emblem.

Bricriu's crest : A Quill superimposed over a piece of Parchment, drenched in Furrikin blood.

Excellent idea.

Don't see why it should just be people with positions, though. Or if it were, it'd be OF the positions, not of the person holding them, so to speak.
Bricriu2005-03-20 18:22:32
I suggested people with positions just because the Average Joe usually wouldn't need to bother having a seal to prove his letter isn't forged, heh.
And Guido, I already SAID mine. An ouroborosian feathered serpent.

Pff, his one was better.
And yes, but so what if they wouldn't NEED to, what if they WANTED to?

Tough biscuits?
Shiri2005-03-20 18:33:42
Pff. If you get 'em, the rest of us should too. Besides, it could be used to impugn our characters if we didn't get them.
Bricriu2005-03-20 18:47:45
Awwwww. Pat.
I don't really care if everyone got them, I just thought it would be a nice, if expensive treat for those who work so hard for guild and city.

Personal seals available through purchase and admin approval for everyone and organizational seals, different for every organization and position.
Problem solved.
Person can use his/her own personal seal and every one of available to him/her because of positions he/she holds currently.

Another reason I suggested those with power ONLY...is because someone will have to CHECK all those seals, and approve them.
Unknown2005-03-20 19:06:50
That's why personal seals would cost credits.
Also, it would be nice if people who purchase them could do something more with them then seal letters. For example, forgers could imprint it on their fieldplate, or jewelers make a signet ring with it.
