What can I chop?

Back to Common Grounds.

Nooooo. I have wooden doors!

Oh, and use this at mother:

This axe's head has been shaped into the form of a large bird, such as a
raven or crow. The beak composes the edge of the blade, and the feathers
are formed spikes coming off of the end of the axe head. A wooden handle
wrapped with leather provides for a firm grip. Built tough and sturdy,
this axe would is useful for cutting down trees as well as one's foes.
It has 338 months of usefulness left.
It weighs about 10 pounds.
It bears the distinctive mark of Archon Richter Carthan.

Should have made that private, but... well, everyone can make them! Go nuts.

See, the thing is that it's POSSIBLE to destroy statues whenever.

And they're not in an environment where defenders can instantly teleport to you.
Unknown2005-03-24 09:12:35
You should be able to Ignite Totems and start forest Fires laugh.gif Wouldn't that fun?
Gwylifar2005-03-24 16:11:37
Only if it's very unlike in other IRE worlds, where fires are just mindless tedium.

Aren't they often along a highway?
Shiri2005-03-25 01:02:41
I think she meant totems, which aren't.
Elryn2005-03-25 01:18:35
Aye, but she is contrasting them with statues, which are often along highways. Don't cities have a skill that allows them to travel instantly to someone on a road?
Shamarah2005-03-25 01:22:57
It's not instant. And it's only on the four main highways, so villages and cities don't count.
Shiri2005-03-25 01:49:31
Rituals, and it's not much faster than teleport. A bit, though. But I wonder why the skill's there at all. Maybe it doesn't give a message to the person on the other end? Only tested it one way.
Shamarah2005-03-25 02:01:49
It doesn't stop if you move rooms, only if you leave the highway. And it goes through monoliths.

It does. It's like, "You hear your name being chanted repeatedly off in the distance" or something. And something about a rumbling coming closer or some such. But they need to leave the highway to stop it, I think. So it's not TOO bad. It was our prime method of distanced movement, back when we FIRST started.

THAT is the skill that causes the chanting. I lived in fear of that bloody message for ages... I think it was when Brona was hunting me. That chanting = death.
Erion2005-03-25 02:40:01
Heh. Yep. Via in rituals.
Amaru2005-03-25 13:12:44
I love via for jumping. Hardly anyone uses it, so a lot of the time the person on the other end just stops and wonders what's happening. Hi!
Sylphas2005-03-25 18:53:27
I remember walking into a demesne once, and instantly getting Viaed by Brona, who shackled/tortured me almost to death (Yay writhe/spores!). Via has a rather scary messge, especially if you don't know what it is.
Narsrim2005-03-25 19:24:59
Dryad trees need upgraded to have some purpose if you can chop them. They take 1p to summon and there is no true benefit other than being able to climb up in them. Furthermore, anyone can use them. It would be nice if they would fling out enemies, etc... but they don't... they don't even work with Tree Totem. On otherhand, a Hartstone can forestcast forest for 1p which can be seriously empowered... are you going to be able to chop those too?

1 enchanter can make enough statues to cover an entire city whereas it would take 100 + hartstone/serenguard with stag to cover the same ground with totems. Furthermore, it takes 6 months to make a totem. If should take you at least 4 days of constant chopping (I mean seriously, imagine you have a hand axe... how long would it take to chop a a full grown massive tree?).
Ceres2005-03-25 20:08:31
Imagine I had a flail.

How many solid connections to your head would it take to kill you?

Realism has no place in Lusternia.

If you're seriously suggesting it take 4 real hours to chop down a moonhart tree.. laugh.gif

I imagine forest fires, as well as other fires, will be added with Pyromancy. They'll likely be able to light individual rooms on fire, or do it demesne-wide.
Sylphas2005-03-25 22:27:30
Yes, but hopefully it would be ethereal (not "of the ethereal plane" of course) fire or something that doesn't actually burn our trees.

Hopefully any fires would be a nice way to split up Serenwilde and throw in some conflict. Sylphas would let Glomdoring burn to the ground, and go plant the ashes. I'm sure there's plenty of people in Serenwilde who'd say "OH NOES, A FOREST ISH BURNIN!!", and go running to put it out. (Of course, not all of them would be so moronic about it.)

Too much fire, though, just means burnout.
