Racial champions.

I know this is kind of sad, but I love being trill and I love fighting, but trill is not good for fighting.

So, I think it would be cool if there were racial champions. They can get champ artifact powers. These racial champions can't be the same as the champ of a guild.

For instance, as the trill champion I could obtain a super fan that slices people with great winds that does more damage than my lame geomancer staff with 13 int and no eq boost yay.gif
Unknown2005-03-22 15:08:23
Oh, and if I do the staff style attack north they have a chance of being pushed north! Because it's windy.
Shiri2005-03-22 15:09:14
...would be cool, but not gonna happen. (I'd totally be the Furrikin one. There's like, only me and Alkriz that fight, and he's been away since Xmas. tongue.gif)
Ixion2005-03-22 15:55:38
That's an EXCELLENT idea.

I don't see why it couldn't work Shiri.

One thing.. how would the champ be decided? Elections?
Ceres2005-03-22 16:06:12
I'd be the changeling champ.

Imagine someone as Guild Champion and racial champion, with two champion arties. ohmy.gif
Richter2005-03-22 17:09:18
Mmm, dual wielding champ arties.
Jack2005-03-22 17:47:24
That's why Guild Champions could not be Racial Champions.

That, and I want to be mugwump Champion, not Tuek. tongue.gif

Nice oxymoron wink.gif
And how would you compare combatants of the same race but very different class?
Estarra2005-03-22 18:02:59
The problem would arise if a race champion was expected to be defend members of his race both in City A and City B. Where would his or her loyalties lie? To race or city? What if a member of the race champ's guild attacked a member of the race in an opposing guild? They aren't going to be effective because I guaranty they'll end up either (1) being rogues (which aren't the best combatants) because they'll attack members of every city and commune, or (2) only selectively protecting those of the race who don't oppose their city/guild (in which case they aren't very good champions).

Not to discourage efforts to enhance racial solidarity, however, something more RP-related may be doable. Like a race historian or something.

I really like this idea.

Instead of defending players of the same race, for obvious reasons, s/he could protect villages... like the Trill one protect the Mesa, the Dracnari the Nomads, Loboshigaru Tosha, etc etc. It's worth thinking about anyway, I like the idea of Champions and the idea of different loyalties, rather than just the one to the city (the reason differing loyalties don't exist now is because there's no player advantage in roleplaying them).

On a lighter note, A CHAMPION POSITION I COULD ACTUALLY WIN!

3730h, 3000m, 3310e, 10p exk-rwho
Lord Amaru La'Saet, Twilight Seraph
3730h, 3000m, 3310e, 10p exk-

And without meaning to hijack... I'm not happy about the way

' Those attracted to this position generally do not have political ambitions, but are rather experts at one thing-the art of combat. '

Champions have to win an election to get the position.

Manjanaia2005-03-22 18:30:22
... I have a mugwump alt you could snuggle. And er... we could dig up Visaeris? He was Mugwump was he not?
Unknown2005-03-22 18:31:46
Shiro the Dracnari Champion!!
Jack2005-03-22 18:32:27
Visaeris = teh quit.

The only other mugwumps I can name.. Hrm.. Yuniko and Dumihru. And Tuek, though he's technically a changeling.

The only competition, really, is Dumihru. closedeyes.gif
Manjanaia2005-03-22 18:33:01
No that's me Shiroliscioussnoopsiepoowoggywoopyness (still extending that name if there are any suggestions)
Shiri2005-03-22 19:40:08
And I think Dumihru's inactive.

Anyway, noo, if anything it'd have to be race champion, not race historian. Otherwise it'd be Barry, not me. tongue.gif I like the defending villages thing though.

EDIT: Also, there'd be no Merian/Viscanti/Elfen champions (MUAHA), and Lucidians/Trills/Dracnari would get kicked out when Hallifax and Gaudiguch came. halo.gif
