Visaeris = teh quit.

The only other mugwumps I can name.. Hrm.. Yuniko and Dumihru. And Tuek, though he's technically a changeling.

The only competition, really, is Dumihru.  closedeyes.gif

You're the Aquamancer Champion, you don't count! tongue.gif
Shamarah2005-03-22 21:01:10
You're all so envious of my special passive ability to force Ixion to target me with a haymaker during every raid!
Revan2005-03-22 22:06:28
Psh, people target me just as much. You have no idea how much summon spam I get once people realize I'm in the thick of village influencing or raiding.

Can we have Racial Historians? I want to be the Racial Historian of the Viscanti. I know so much history it overwhelms em!
Unknown2005-03-22 22:16:58
Why do you people want everything to be so official? laugh.gif
Want to be a Viscanti Historian, make it so. Talk about history a lot and make everyone know that you're the one who knows best and where they should come with their questions about it.

Lazul would beat Ceres as the changeling champion.

Wrong!
Desdemona2005-03-22 23:03:44
Mugwumps could go defend the swamps... And mugwump pilgrims if there are any.

QUOTE(Estarra @ Mar 22 2005, 06:02 PM)
The problem would arise if a race champion was expected to be defend members of his race both in City A and City B. Where would his or her loyalties lie? To race or city? What if a member of the race champ's guild attacked a member of the race in an opposing guild? They aren't going to be effective because I guaranty they'll end up either (1) being rogues (which aren't the best combatants) because they'll attack members of every city and commune, or (2) only selectively protecting those of the race who don't oppose their city/guild (in which case they aren't very good champions).

Not to discourage efforts to enhance racial solidarity, however, something more RP-related may be doable. Like a race historian or something.

How about quests that only members of a certain race can do to get the racial champion artifact (and yeah guild champions shouldn't be able to get it)

The "champion" doesn't necessarily have to be nice even. Jelaludin is a trill fascist. Heil Hallifax! And has no patience for trill who do not share his magificient vision. Not that anyone else is trill tongue.gif

I see alot of potential in this idea... forgetting the whole champion status or rescuing, it is quite possible. Create a quest within the Racial homelands... For example, building on the Taurian history:

First, the integration of a racial home for the Taurians. Then, a long quest to gather the spirits of the ancient Taurian Enclave from around the far corners of the basin, where they have been scattered. Once this is complete, the adventurer returns and is gifted by the Enclave with the Totem of Raging Spirits (a wielded blunt weapon, perhaps?). Each racial artifact would have a different effect, this one could increase speed, strength or the effects of enraging for example. The person would also be gifted with the honours line of;
He/She is the current wielder of the Totem of Raging Spirits.

When the next person completes the quest, the two Taurians are placed in an arena and must fight to determine who shall keep the Totem (as soon as they both are in realms at the same time, and are available, until the fight is complete, the Totem is in hiatus).

The methods of contention for the artifact could of course be different from race to race. Faeling may have to complete a race of some sort, Igasho must survive in a frigid inhospitable area... that sort of thing.
Oh, and changelings lose the artifact if they change race of course...

Just an expansion of what I think is a good idea.

QUOTE(Amaru @ Mar 22 2005, 02:09 PM)
I really like this idea.

Instead of defending players of the same race, for obvious reasons, s/he could protect villages... like the Trill one protect the Mesa, the Dracnari the Nomads, Loboshigaru Tosha, etc etc. It's worth thinking about anyway, I like the idea of Champions and the idea of different loyalties, rather than just the one to the city (the reason differing loyalties don't exist now is because there's no player advantage in roleplaying them).

And the Taurian, Mugwump, Faeling, Elfen, Merian, Viscanti, and Igasho champions would just sort of sit around saying "Gee, I wish I had a purpose."
Xenthos2005-03-25 04:39:17
Well, the Elfen would protect Serenwilde.

They'd just have a very easy job.
Gwylifar2005-03-25 16:43:42
Well, the aslaran champion would have had no purpose for a while, but now has one, in the Moors (where I've spent like three solid days.... augh). Even the lobishigaru got something. Give it some time, I'm sure they'll get to everyone.

No they wouldn't. They'd go "Rocks, I get a kickarse artifact and no obligations to protect anything in particular with it."

I do like the idea of race-only quests though. Like, Trundle's quest only for Furrikin and Tae'dae. whistling.gif
Sylphas2005-03-25 19:22:25
Yes, because then Sylphas would once again be turned away by his friends when he tries to help, and become bitter and angry.

Race-only quests would be nice, but I'd like to see village quests stay as-is, and new ones added.
Shiri2005-03-25 19:27:07
I was kidding about the Estelbar part. wink.gif But yes. happy.gif
