I enjoy demesnes a lot better then vibes. But I have to say, they are way too powerful in team fights.. whoever has the demesne, will win (thats not always the case at all, but seems to be the majority of the cases).

I'm personally thankful you didn't get Champion.

Really? I've not seen their changes, but I still hear Hartstone's demesne can single-handedly take most people out. That's pretty powerful IMO

They have stun. They do the most passive damage. And they have poison gas, which is cheaper (and works MUCH faster) then belch (which is one of the cheapest things around), and can cover up to 400 rooms, and isn't blocked by constitution. It takes me less then 40 seconds to go from utterly satiated to starving to death. This all compliments chasm, plus their demesne is by far the most difficult to move in, with the most inhibitors.
Geomancers are the most powerful mage class by a very considerable margin.
Edit: The fact that they have chasm, also means they don't have to rely on a speedy/intelligent race to do large amounts of damage (like Merian) and can instead choose a much tankier race, like Dwarf, and still be completely effective.

I've never really liked the idea of Demesnes at all, but I doubt they'd ever be removed entirely. My concern isn't even over their strength. The simple capacity to summon relatively instantly makes them immensely more powerful than any other force in the game, particularly given the fact that area control is of such importance.
Erion2005-03-24 00:23:18
You, Amaru.
And, shrug! Demesne summon is overpowered.

I would have quite liked to have that handmaiden, but that's life.
Murphy tells you, "I would run like a little girly man, you are tough
enough without constant blackout."

Patchou needs upgrades in comparison to the Handmaiden and Nil Grim Horror... where's my envoy!?
Shiri2005-03-24 00:38:43
Asleep, sadly. Will try and bother him on MSN for you, but he's busy at work, so tell Narsrim, semi-envoy instead. :/

I was kidding.
...though she really could use some upgrades...

Oh.
Nevermind me then.

Yes. Demesnes are FAR too effective for village influencing in their current form. As it is, whoever has the village demesned has a guaranteed win, and I don't think it's meant to be that way.
79782
um wrong...
i've helped win many villages that were already demesned by another city...you just need people willing to die to break it
if this was indeed the case then owndershop of villages would never change

Personally I wish the coders would just say... 'Sorry, we were wrong. Demesnes have to go' and give Mages any of the infinite ideas we've put forward in their place.
79799
It's perfectly possible to defeat any demesne. Everyone's just too dumb to have figured it out by now. No one's trying hard enough.
Bwahahahahahahahah.
Sorry, I'm a little giddy.
Unknown2005-03-24 07:07:23
I think demesne summon needs a downgrade of some sort, maybe only in village influencing sessions.
Unknown2005-03-24 07:09:25
Ownership of villages already never changes

And when was the last time a Village changed ownership?
Asarnil2005-03-24 07:15:18
They never change hands, because Serenwilde is too dumb to figure out that Magnagora just wants to slap down Celest during landmarking and really don't give a rats about them.

Well, Jello's RP is that he hates Serenwilde more than Celest.
Yeah, take that all you "It's just my rp to 2v1 Magnagora" hobags.

estelbar from magnagora to serenwilde...
stewartsville from magnagora to serenwilde...
those were the last two in which i had to break demesnes and stuff
Daevos2005-03-24 08:19:48
Both times the demenses were owned by Stangmar and he wasnt here at the revolt. I cant deny though that our tactics could have been better, but our mages were outnumbered.
