If Magnagora could influence Southgard or Rockholm, it would have just changed hands.
Kaervas2005-03-24 09:30:36
Patchou is so much better than Grim, blackout is the only decent attack it's got and he doesn't do it that often. /hijack

Patchou needs upgrades in comparison to the Handmaiden and Nil Grim Horror... where's my envoy!?

Patchou: aeon, balance loss, mana drain.
Handmaiden: blackout, paralysis, damage.
Nil Grim: blackout, chill, fear.
You can't be serious.
Amaru2005-03-24 11:47:10
I'd settle for actually having one at all.
Unknown2005-03-24 13:45:53
Actually, the Handmaiden is Blackout, Paralysis, Mana Drain, Damage (it does a lot, like 600). Patchou is Aeon, Mana drain (which let me say, is around 250 mana, whereas it costs 250 mana to focus body, so paralysis is even better), knock off balance (similar to Brownie, very short) and an attack that does 100 bleed damage. The Nil Grim Horror also gives Paralysis. Each have 4 attacks, and each have a 1/4 chance of doing any one of them. Even the Nil Grim Horrors attacks are superior to Patchou's, since she can't do Aeon often enough to ever beat quicksilver. However, blackout is always useful, paralysis as well.
I'm pretty sure the Nil Grim Horror has a damage attack as well.

Can't you tell when patchou does aeon, and follow it up with aeon yourself? I wouldn't say it's useless.
Unknown2005-03-24 13:59:57
Or you know, if I had a blackout inducing pet, I could see when it blacks out, and THEN Aeon, for two to three times the effectiveness.
Unknown2005-03-24 14:01:37
Except without precious patchou, you would aeon them while they're blacked out and it wouldn't actually aeon them, just strip speed
Unknown2005-03-24 14:04:22
And they wouldn't know that they lost quicksilver either. Oh, and let's not forget, in the period of blackout, I could aeon twice, or deliver 5-6 afflictions with hexes. Or entangle them, or do anything, and they wouldn't see it.
Blackout > Aeon. No matter what, blackout is singly the best affliction there is.

I fought the Nil Grim Horror a whole load of times, and it never, ever, hit me with paralysis, damage or mana drain, the only effects I ever felt from it was chill, fear, and a lone blackout on occasion.

Never said it did mana-drain, the Handmaiden does that. As for the other things, go test the Nil Grim Horror, because it does have four attacks, not three.

Damn straight. One would ask "why dont you run for champ then?" Been there, done that, and no knight guild artie compares to grim/patchou/handmaiden.

I ran for Champion when Ethelon stepped down.
Result:
Galvadore: 7
Elaria: 5
Amaru: 3
I don't see myself running again.
Kaervas2005-03-24 15:38:21
Grim does -not- give paralysis, I've tested it a million times and it's -never- given anyone paralysis.

What are it's four attacks in entirety then? It has a damage attack then instead of paralysis, no? Thorgal only stated three, left one off.
Kaervas2005-03-24 15:56:41
It only has three attacks unless one was added very recently.
Thorgal2005-03-24 17:07:09
It doesn't have four attacks, never had four attacks, and probably will never have four attacks.
Be very afraid of the chill and fear powers of the Grim, they provide immense tactical advantages to the Nihilist champion.
On the other hand, having only 3 attacks increases the chance of blackout...but in this case, it also means 66% of the time, it does totally useless moves, unlike the other two champion pets.

So, yeah. Demesnes are too strong where is concerned village influencing.
Manjanaia2005-03-24 19:00:34
I might know why that is Amaru. Because when I was a Celestine, Elaria was always a presence on GT, helping novices and stuff, and Galvadore was always pretty vocal over GT. You were usually off taking care of city defence, or fighting enemies and stuff. So when those novices come through to GR 3, they see Elaria, you and Galv, and vote for the one that they know the most of. Regardless of combat capability.
Amaru2005-03-24 19:57:30
I was baffled by it. And I still am. I know for a fact that if Magnagora was selecting who should not be champion, I'd win that. Evidently the guild agrees with them, but I can't see why...
