Meh. I don't like dreamweave control at all. Completely immune to ALL sleep attacks? Pah.
Unknown2005-03-26 01:35:02
people keep saying this GET VIAL FROM PACK * 100 thing, you ever tried sending 100 commands at once to rapture, it tells you to go to hell and wait.
Unknown2005-03-26 01:35:46
It's not -complete- Control, it just took them 7 tries with Slumber to actually get me to sleep See not complete, just very very very hard
Unknown2005-03-26 01:36:15
Occasionally it just disconnects you. Or it starts ignoring commands, that is why you need to put delays between long strings of commands (like Alchemy).

I think the point of control is more so you don't have to screw with curing insomnia and putting it back up when you're trying to dreamweave. And we SHOULD have more control of sleep. Maybe not to the extent it is now, but it should be noticably harder to put a Dreamweaver to sleep against their will. What if it just worked like insomnia, except you didn't have to cure it to go to sleep of your own will?
Unknown2005-03-26 01:46:28
Control should be dependant on your skill in Dreamweaving, as in a Novice with Dreamweaving would have no control of their sleep, since they have no control of Dreamweaving, Trans you would have full control, since you obviously are very knowledgeful about it

Who said it isn't?
Not to mention, a novice doesn't have control.

Actually, novices do get Control. A novice can get up to Nightmares. (You can go to 100% Adept, and Nightmares and Control and stuff are in the Adept range.

Everyone makes mistakes.

Yeah, but Haja said he doesn't need to look at the code, since he made it, yet he's posting one inaccuracy after the other.
Funny...right?
Okay then, not funny.

is this possible?
How effective are moonie sleep combos? they can hit you with a imp, pooka command sleep, sleep hex... dreamweaver possesses... then give give give give give give give give give give give give give give... and just because snort spore.

Hajamin only coded the basis for motes for this project; I did the rest. Control is 100% control to whomever can get it.
As for theft by forcing people to drop stuff, envelop uses up EQ. Possess-forcing commands that do not consume balance or EQ take up a very short amount of EQ. Coalescing takes large EQ time. Being ejected from possession takes up EQ for the dreamweaver, which gives the victim time to recoup. If you can't defend against theft with that many handicaps on the dreamweaver in addition to the challenge of the dreamweaver being able to pull it off to begin with, that's pretty inept. Heck, a simple trigger system could beat the whole theft. (Note, a few of these things were not in place when it was first released because I forgot to code them, but it's how it was originally intended and is how it is now.)
And possession is not just about spying. There are other many other useful purposes for the skill if you are creative, but the spying aspect is IMO the most unique part and what was talked about the most by the gods since no other IRE skill (as far as I know) gives that sort of spying capability.
Gregori2005-03-31 13:28:09
Well spying would be a lovely feature, if it hadn't been ruined completely by certain entities informing people they were being spied upon. Thanks for making a skillset that enables us to have a great IC way of finding things out, then turning around and making it useless by just telling people we are there!
Note:: This is as much to do with the overall skillset as with Possession. We were waiting for the right moment to hit with a possession, but alas some people just have friends in high places.
