Greetings.
Someone please, please, please, finally fix those talkative mobs ala Miakoda, Ridien etc. It's great to have mobs who have stories to tell. It's complete to have a mob who's supposed to be this really highly respected elder or whatever but starts rambling about something every time someone says a keyword in their presence. Which, if it were limited to that, wouldn't be all THAT bad in the end, but since the keyword matching is either really broken or poorly done, it fires at keywords contained anywhere mid-word, just once mention a Crown near Miakoda and you'll know what I'm talking about.
I honestly don't see how it could be any big issue to code in a only halfly decent keyword matching algorithm so the mobs finally stop their ridiculous rambling.
And to tell you the truth, it's annoying to no end, not to forget it's totally stupid from a roleplaying point of view. Anyone rambling like most of our talking mobs would be regarded a village idiot at best.
So, before you code in anything new, neat or shiny, just fix this problem, finally, please. It shouldn't be THAT much of work, and you'd make alot of people happy with it.
(There's one really, really really easy way to fix this. Make the mobs only respond if things are said -TO- them, that'd instantly solve most of the spammyness problems created by poor keyword matching. Both talking about the annoyance factor AND the roleplaying issues)
Maybe I should organize a team to kidnap Buho and only let him out again after he fixed the talking mobs. Any volunteers?

Agreed. Gwylifar managed to gag the stupid people, but I can't! Noo! So spammy.
And I HATE having a conversation there when some smartarse decides to come in and ask Miakoda for four leaves, then run out and come in with four pixies and blahhh.
Ridien's not so bad.

Problem with the keyword matching is that's part of a core set of IRE code, it's completely out of our hands.
Same goes for making them SAY TO only, though that would defeat most of the purpose of having them reply to certain words. I mean, how many people do SAY TO ARDRAK CELEST?

The pilgrims are the worst because there's usually five or ten of them all getting overexcited every time someone says "speak". And that one is fixable: just put a space before peak in the pattern, because peak will never be the first word in the line for anyone except those idiots that grunt incoherent incantations like "lead peak" instead of actually talking to them... and even usually not them.

You mean, peak, right?
And yeah, there was a log of me screwing around with that once.
"Perhaps I should lead... to... THE PEAK?"
Pilgrim says blah.
Pilgrim says blah.
Pilgrim says blah.
Pilgrim says blah.
Pilgrim says blah.
Pilgrim says blah.

Ah... now that's a problem...
Whom do we bother regarding IRE code core issues....?
Anyone living in the vincinity of the IRE headquarters who's good at talking people into doing things? Maybe a petition to the almighty Matt would do the trick *chin*
Different idea: Wouldn't it be possible to just leave those settings empty that trigger the mob's core keyword matching and instead write your own code for it?

I'd just like it if Miakoda could be a bit more concise when she handed out leaves. You get one leaf, it might be nice to know why. You get 5 leaves, you don't an explanation each time.

The spammier mobs, like Miakoda and pilgrims, could be switched to replying in tells.
